Anyone ever seen this car?
Sounds pretty sweet

BruceVette 03-07-2004, 01:02 AM Awsome car. He says it turned down on boost with mondo blade BOV from 21psi to 15psi. My question is can mondo blade can down on boost pressure?? any one know?
Bruce
Megalis 03-07-2004, 01:08 AM is it my imagination or are some of the pipes touching the ground?
that thing is quick though:bow:

WTF is a Mondo blade BOV? I think he has the Vortech Mondo BOV and a monoblade Throttle body.
Maybe he was the BOV setup like a pressure relief valve that bleeds off press above 15psi?
BruceVette 03-07-2004, 01:53 PM oops
I means Mondo BOV. how the heck he can turn down on boost from 21psi to 15psi?
stewmeistr 03-07-2004, 09:35 PM Yeah, this car is the real deal. I know the former owner/originator of the beast. He's a stand up guy and apparently became disenchanted with the car after a lengthy build time.... Don't we all.
Anyway, that car is for real. Top quality everything!!
I got to drive it ( briefly) when it was at half of that power level at the wheels. WOW... I can't even imagine it now.
Wish I had the coin for it because it would be in my stable.
Later,
STEW
marshall93z 03-07-2004, 09:54 PM nice car!!!
also the first one ive seen with 1000 hp and using 6" rods...

Hell yeah i would like to take it for a spin :D
Looks like someone has put a lot of money and time into it

magius231 03-08-2004, 11:22 AM I never understood this - how does someone become disenchanted after sinking that much money into the car?? Makes you wonder WHY he became disenchanted with it...
Anyway, doesn't $100K seem a bit extreme, even at 1000HP? Or am I just missing something here...
1994B4C 03-08-2004, 12:56 PM I know I became uninterested in my car after it was away from my garage for a year and half. When I got it back I was so close to having it finished but just wasn't interested to work on it or mess with it anymore. It would have made 1000HP and streetable.
And yes $100K, im not buying someone having that much money in a car like that.
IDOXLR8 03-08-2004, 02:16 PM I agree 100K sounds pretty steep for that setup.
mongse_1 03-08-2004, 03:27 PM Isn't that Todd something's car from GA? I've seen it for sale for some time now.
Pro Stock John 03-09-2004, 10:57 AM Only way you can basically change the power level of a boosted YS Trim setup like that (which I have too) is by changing the blower pulley. I know I discussed the idea of using a BOV to limit boost with a buddy but if you think about it, if you are pulleyed for 17-20psi and have it blow off at 8psi it would be goofy.

Unless your paying everyone $100 an hour to work on the car + the cost of top notch parts! I could see him throwing $25K in the motor alone having to pay for removal/replacement, assembly, machine work, parts and tuning. Those of us who do their own work save a TON of money over having someone else do everything
jhelms 03-10-2004, 09:54 PM Geez, he evened scanned in a handfull of the receipts (the top one in that 'stack' being $10k+) and people still don't believe the $100k buildup.
I added up the receipts.
They total over $100k.

With Grimes Machine Shop, Atlanta Chassis Dyno, and Lamar Walden Automotive doing most of the work, the labor can get 'up there' in a hurry.
PSJ is right that is how the boost is changed, several extra pulleys and belts are included with the car.

Well, the grass was tall when I took that pic, but yes the vehicle is very low.

Pro Stock John 03-11-2004, 10:02 AM Cool, that's what I thought... I hope someone buys the car and rips some passes with it.

Not trying to insult the guy because his setup is extremely nice. But since you are on the YS wagon. The guy has better heads than I do, better headers , better intercooler and cog setup. He made 10 rwhp more than I did. The only reason I am saying anything because you always seem to think the F1 guys are not making the power that the YS guys are.
stealth2 03-11-2004, 10:38 AM IDOXLR8 - Your observation is interesting because I've been thinking that the F1 guys, particularly 1BadLS1/427 who runs mid 8s, are making more power than us YS guys.
For example, 1BadLS1/427 says he has made over 1100 hp, when I can only make 850 or so and I have 27 more cubes that he does.

I am referring to the F1 blower not the F1R :)
Birdie2000 03-11-2004, 02:32 PM jhelms, how'd he get the dual 3" pipes over the passenger side of the axle? I've always heard that 2.5" is a squeeze, let alone 3" mandrel.

Huge difference there too. Kinda like comparing a 60-1 turbo to a T76GTS.
Oh no, not this ATI/Vortech war again.

stealth2 03-12-2004, 09:58 AM I thought that serious racers only use Vortech?
mongse_1 03-12-2004, 01:03 PM Nah, they use turbos. ;)

Jeff Georges in Atlanta (long time ago worked at SuperStreet Performance then opened up Thunder 'Performance' and now I think is working somewhere else, NextGen or something?) did the complete exhaust.
