No more proturbo kits

Hey,
I just thought I'd let you guys know about this. I spoke with a guy at Proturbo kits today. He gave me some bad news. They are not going to sell the LT1 turbo kit anymore unless it is installed at their shop. This is due to the numerous complaints of fitment problems, mainly due to year to year production variances and fitment problems. I guess if I want one, it will be a drive and a half to Texas.
Later,
Ed

Hmm I'll have to speak with Greg Monday morning. I don't see what the big deal is, my kit only had one issue and they send me another header and that took care of the problem flawlessly.

Thanks Jose. I talked with one of the installers. I don't think this guy knew what he was talking about. They would be losing out on a lot of business, don't you think. It sounds like they want to make more money installing these kits, not selling the parts. :)

Like I said I will speak with Greg on Monday. I speak with Greg just about everyday, and we have discussed the LT1 kit and some potential problems with it. But the problems are only under extreme build-ups such as mine and 1 other. I'm running a T88 with mine and running a 4.5" DP, so some clearence issues came up, but thats no biggie. Their setup is great with a 76 GTS, everything clears perfect and the kit can easily make some huge #'s. They definitely want to sell kits.

All's I'm looking for is around 600 horse and reliablility. I don't like the procharger because of the noise, that's it. I was really impressed that all the welds proturbo does are tigged. The installer guy did say they are under a heavy work load right now, that may have something to do with it.

Yeah, they just had an open house at PTK. After the open house, looks like their kits really picked up in popularity. They have been extremely busy. Their kit can easily and reliably do 600rwhp with a T76 or even a T70 or T72.

They are still indeed building the kits. What they are wanting is a donor car to do a air to air setup and to do some tweaking on their current LT1 kits. Will be nice to have your choice of intercooling. PTK is really stepping up for the F-body guys. They are currently looking for donor cars, an LT1 from 93-97 and a LS1 98-02. If any of you guys want to use your car as a donor, pm me. Donor cars get a nice discount ;)
