Divide Canada into regions!

ok sure there is a section for Canada, but its shared with Michigan?? And the only other thing coming close to Canada is the Pacific Northwest Regional.

Can we acknowledge that a high percentage of F-body owners are in Canada, and give them the recognition they deserve? Even 2 would be nice. West Canada, East Canada. If you were real generous, you might give us Western, Central, and Eastern.

There are a high volume of F-body shows that happen in Canada, at least where I live. You might not get much traffic in these new sections, yet it allows for site-specific discussion which may breed more enthusiasm, not only in canada, but those American members living close to the border who might drive up for a weekend for a show.

Canada has spoken. :D

I agree,
I was going to create a Canada Fbody forum, but I dont know if I would be able to get the trafic to make it what a section here could be.

A Canada region would be GREAT.

and if ya need a mod... (I cant see the smilies so I cant tell whats what, so just pretend its the tounge out wink)

I think a Canada forum would get way more trafic then jsut the shared one too, I know I just browse I now becuase too much of it is Michigan.

Is there room for discussion on a Canada section even?

I have been trying to come up with a way to say this without sounding like a jerk.

Let it be known that we never mean to slight Canada or our Canadian brethren or anyone else for that matter.

Now that I got that out of the way...

This has been brought up once or twice before. Our concern is that it won't get utilized enough and will become a stale forum.

Here's what I will promise... Chris and I will review the idea again the next time we talk. What I can't promise is that we will add another forum for this.

Ontario, Canada forum !!! :D

I know this would get used a lot too cause of the huge population of southern ontario. Hell, I'm sure there would even be a lot of response from my area as it is a GM town (the GM plant being the backbone of the town). Everyone with a mullet around here has a Camaro :p And believe me, there are alot of mullets!! haha.

How many Canadian members do you guys think we have here?

How many do you think will actually USE a Canadian forum if we added one? I mean other than the Windsor area members who primarily use the Great Lakes area forum.

Just a ballpark figure?

Hmmmmmm............really couldn't say. But i would think that a lot of the traffic in the Great Lakes area forum would come from Toronto. After all, it is the most populated city in Canada. At least thats what i would assume.

All i can say is, it doesnt hurt to give it a try. If it doesnt work out, it could always be taken down right? And after all, i dont think any forum could have lower traffic rate than the events and cruise spots forum. It has an amazingly low count of 42 threads since october of last year.

That's kind of what we are thinking but have to think it through and put some numbers together.

That is correct, but not as easy as it sounds. If we started it and it didn't get used enough by people and had to take it down, we would get a lot of grief from those who DID use it. We have a hard enough time dealing with people crabbing and complaning at us as it is. :)

Heheheheh...don't think I don't know about that one already.

That forum situation is remarkably similar to this situation. We DID once remove that forum and told people to use the board's calendar feature instead. Immediately we got pelted with complanints by those who DID use it.

That forum will (again) go away in the future because the next version of the board software has a much better Calendar feature. I don't think the backlash will be as bad because it is used less now than it was then for some reason.

I cant wait for VB3, its just so nice, and the admin part makes sence and can do everything this time with ease.... but thats off topic, still cant wait.

I think there are a good number of Canadian members, and as long as they knew about it I believe it would get used. just have to make a post about it in the lounge if/when its done to let everyone know about it.

and moderators will be easy to get too.

not too long ago here in Calgary. there was an F-Body show, and it was quite popular, and I got to thinking about how most internet sites deal largely with americans, which ultimately brought me to create this thread. I guess its realistic to assume the section would start out slow at first. It might catch on. As an example, someone might be searching for a western canadian F-body club or forum, they are more likely to find this place if its available in a search engine. I suppose its bad for the site's overall appearance to have stale sections, I can see that. But maybe it's worth a shot... or even do it gradually, for example instead of Pacific Northwest Regional, make it northwest regional/british Columbia or something like that, start breaking down canada and mixing it with the American sections, until such point you decide it could handle a forum on its own.

Jay,

Dont forget about the TFM forums, and the one that Patman and those guys use at ls1.com.
