What gears do you have? And are you running on drag radials?

A good driver can certainly have a great deal of impact on the outcome of any race.

My hunch is you are giving up 3-4 tenths in performance to the Lightning.

Make sure its a long race and you might have a chance.
Those trucks are un aerodynamic so you will have an advantage at high speeds.
at any rate thats where I start pulling on them.

My friend just had exhaust on his 95 z and he beat a lightning.

I think it will be a drivers race if the info is honest.

Exhaust is worth crap and tune is worth very little without a pulley, a little more timing for 93 octane? But from what I know, few Lightning guys will "just" chip it without putting a pulley on it. If he has pulley, chip and exhaust and all the other little things we Lightning guys do, I know you will get spanked.

A friend in our club has a Box Stock 96 Z28 with the 6 Speed and only a cutout and lost by less then a tenth of a second. With your mods you will win. Did I mention the Truck had a Programmer, a pulley and an exhuast. He is a local racer we know here. You'll win.

I would be glad to take on any truck around. Some guy in this huge 4x4 tried to race me the other day, he got spanked big time. That was a lot of fun dusting that guy. I've only lost one race in my car, that was to a vette. If I had some traction, that guy would've been toast too.

Seriously though, I am really impressed with that picture you have of that Ford motor in your Lightning. Is that one of those 4.6 overhead cam motors? I saw one of those in a mustank, and did not like it at all, there was not enough room for squat. But in a truck it would be perfect...
Actually, I looked at Ford's new F-150 awhile back. I like the truck, but the motor looks nothing like that. I was really disappointed with the engine compartment, and that was why I didn't buy the truck.
