Ok, I have a 1998 Z28 (A4) with the following mods...Granatelli Airbox Lid, K&N, Granatelli MAF Sensor, 160* Powerstat, Hypertech Power Programmer III, Fast Toyz Ram Air, NGK TR-55IX plugs, Taylor 8mm wires, gutted cats, Flowmaster Cat-back, Vigilante 3200 stall, and Richmond 3.42's (from the stock 2.73's). For the 2nd time in the past 3-4 weeksm the SES light has come on after going WOT throttle...now I've gone full throttle a few times in between then and now and I've had no problem. I've had the car over a year now and I haven't had any problems up until this point. When the light does come on, it doesn't actually drive any different than normal but why does this happen? If it helps, this is how I have the HPP3 setup:

"Power tuning" non-RFG
160* thermostat
shift points +2, +2, +3
shift firmness 100%
gear ratio correction
stock tire size

Thank you in advance

You would almost need to get some type of scanner on there and see what code it's throwing out. With an intermittent SES light, it's hard to track it down otherwise.
