The Time Has Cometh!!!

Ok Peeps,

The time has come for me to have a Mod fest on my Car. I will be building my house come April, so I only have March to get the majority of the work done on my bird. I was planning on having a mod fest on the 27th/28th of March or the 3rd/4th of April. Things I need to do include:

1) Work on the motor a bit-->valvetrain, etc
2) Remove Front Fenders/Bumper
3) Install K-member, a-arms, sway bars, TA
4) Fix the Rear End seal leak and possibly get 410s installed
5) Fuel Pump
6) Get tranny looked at

Some of this won't be done until the motor has been worked on:D. So it may turn into a two weekend job. What I'm looking for is a few people to help me out. I will provide the food and beer for all those willing to help out. Payam and Matt, you guys have already offered help, so I'll be holding you to it:p , and Twitch you said you'd help me with the body work.;) So if you three can confirm if that weekend/s is ok than I'll start planning. Anyone else who wants to help or just come by and hang out are more than welcome. My car is currently stored in New West/Burnaby so thats where we will be working on it. It's a large garage, so if the weather turns crappy, we can still be inside and have room to work.

If any others are interested, please post and I can get something more definite.
Thanks
Sandeep

I'm pulling the motor for a couple of reasons. I have a very persistant oil leak that doesn't want to go away. If we can do it without pulling the motor, I'll go that way. I also will be changing a few of the internals, so I figure the time it takes to pull the motor out and put it back in will be worth it for the ease of working on it. If you got better ideas, let me know. The fenders and nose will be off so it may be easier to work on without pulling it. Also, the k-member is coming off, so as per Matt, the motor might as well come out from the bottom.

what "internals" are u changing ?

oil leaks can be fixed without pulling the motor ... unless ur going to rebuild the motor or put new pistons in it then there is no point in pulling it ..

I'm pretty sure my wife and I are out of town on the March weekend but I'll try and commit to the April weekend.

Damn you guys up there get all the fun! I'm doing my heads and cam all by my lonesome :(

Sounds sweet Sandeep you know if the motor is out you really should do some major mods like heads and cam if you don't have them already it would be a SHAME to put it back in without that. I know all the times I've worked on my ride and WISHED the motor was out!

well, after talking to Payam... I may not pull the motor. We'll see when we get the intake, etc off. I have a few things planned for the valve train.. basically I';m still pissed for breaking my valve springs , having the rockers come off, etc.. so I'm going to try to put something in that will be "bullit" proof. For now, the only thing I plan on doing that is major, after checking the heads and pistons for damage is a bigger cam, valves, valve springs, lifters and RRs. I have some time so the first step will be to get everything off and see what I need and then plan out the motor mods. The rest of the stuff is bolt on so it can be done in a day.

U know what Bobby, u should come up here with ur wife on the same weekend and we can do the mods together. Ur wife and mine can go shopping....:p It's only a five hour drive.

Hmmm only 5 hours huh??? I might have to do that I think I'll just be helping you though after this round of heads and cam are done I should be done for awhile....Yeah RIIIIIGHT :)

Well I am probably going to take you up on your offer this summer anyways maybe we can plan a Mission (I think thats where you guys go) day. The ladies can go shopping, its amazing the amount of enjoyment they get from a pair of shoes....

Good luck this round if your oil leak is coming from the front timing cover or anything to do with the oil pan screw what Payam says and pull the damn motor and be done with it. I did the oil pan gasket while engine was in car. If you have the tools to get the motor out from the bottom and your already doing the kmember.

there are tricks in doing an oil pan gasket without pulling the motor young 93TAWICKED .. you be a good young learner and maybe next time u have to fix an oil leak u wont end up pulling ur whole motor for it :p

Actually Payam your the young one. I didn't pull the motor BUT if I was saying if you have the means to drop the motor from the bottom and you were changing the K member anyways then I'd drop the motor :)

Your the young skinny bastard that doesn't mind crawling around and putting his skinny arms in tight places :) I'm an old fat ass who would rather take the time and be more comfortable.. I mean if you have the right tools how long does it take to drop the motor from the bottom? Plus if your doing valve train work too?? I'm sorry but its much easier to do that with the motor out.

Now if I didn't have the place and tools (hoist, engine stand etc) and I wasn't replacing the kmember I'd do it all in the car. But thats just me :)
