ok guys i feel stupid about this but.... i just cant figure out how to get a good launch. i got the car over the summer and never really got serious with drag racing until about 3 months ago. i live in va and it has been pretty cold here so i know that would make a difference. it is a 94 m6. everytime i launch, i cant get any traction, and if i dont just wanna spin, i bog. the tires on it are yokohoma i am in school right now so i cant go check what model. im thinkin about kuhmo ecsta supra 712s maybe ill get a little better launch. i also have a pair of 5x10 hoosier slick that i have never tried but really dont wanna break my rear. also i cant just ride around on the street with slicks. anyone give me any hints about how you get a good launch or 60ft? any help is appreciated

i rev the engine to 4000 rpm, dump the clutch and hold the f*ck on. :)
i wouldn't recommend that technique for your application, but you can see how well it works for me in my other thread entitled "took the 383 to the track".
seriously...you're gonna need some tires and/or suspension mods to get anything better than a low 2.0 or high 1.9 60' time, especially after you start making the car faster.
Start a penny jar for some drag radials. Mickey Thompson, BF Goodrich, and Nitto all have them.
Front sway bar removal helps too. Suspension work is a process more thna an event. Each modification or change adds up to a beter launching vehicle. The single best thing I did for my car to improve traction was to get some drag radials and a line lock to help get a good burnout.

I am wondering that as well. I already have them on the car, but it hasn't ventured out this year yet. Next week it should be good to go though. But I got drag radials last year and that was by far the best bang for the buck thus far! Tremendous difference, at least for me.
Since last year was the first time going for me and going to actually drive down the track. On street tires I just wanted to pop the clutch and I spun to mid-high 2 second 60'. With the drag radials I would just pop the clutch and run 2.1 - 2.2 second 60' consistently. This year with the LCAs, the 4.10 gear, and the drag radials I am going to work on a better method for launching. Last year was just testing the waters to see how the car could do without too much effort in launching. This year is all about the launch. I want to get it down so the whole run will be complete and smooth and see what the car is really capable of.
