Converter question?

I was wondering how much mph does a loose converter eat up in the 1/4 vs a stock converter or even a manual trans.

M6s usually trap about 4 mph higher stock for stock....

As long as you get there quicker, who cares about mph..........

That's true, but I'm trying to figure out what kind of hp I'm making. When my car was a M6 and had the hotcam in it it and weighted 3600lbs it ran 12.0's at 115-116. Now with a larger cam, a TH350 with 4200 TC, and weighing 3450lbs it runs 11.7's at 114. I know the converter is hurting my mph, but I just don't know how much.

I'm not shure but you must be able to shift an m6 like a mofo:eek: I would think you would be able to drop more than .3 off the new setup:confused: But like I said you can drive a m6 good so maybe the .3 is pretty good?

HP loss with a converter will vary not only with the design of the converter but also how much hp you are putting through it. The more hp, the greater the loss (both absolute and percentage). So, no way to say for sure or even make a good estimate.

Doing converter slip calculations for my car says I should be at 138.62 mph at the finish line but I'm only 128.47.

That gives me a 7.32% converter slip. Anything less than 10% is good for a race car.
