What are the widest tires I could put on my stock 16.5" rims. I was thinking that when I get some new tires I'd get like 275's or 285's. What do you think?

The widest tire I've ever run on stock 16x8 rims was a 265 Kumho race tire, but for a street tire I don't think you'll find anything other than a 245 or 255 that has the proper (or even close to proper) size. Hawk 02-18-2004, 03:47 PM 285's.............., with all this 315 talk you should try and stuff one of those on there :p I've heard of ppl using 255's with no problems. Brian Man...I wonder what happens when they do a power slide, umm.. DivisnZ28 09-16-2004, 01:04 AM I powerslide and spin donuts all the time with my 255's no problems : ) LT1 Bunny 09-16-2004, 08:23 PM interesting...friend of mine power slide and scrapped his rim up. maybe his tires were gripping a little too much then, instead of spinning??? TheMT1 09-16-2004, 08:40 PM If the tire is too wide for the rim, it starts bowing in the middle and you end up with less of a contact patch.
