abs inop light question?

sup, I was driving my car and my ABS INOP light came on. I was just wondering if that meant my brakes need to be worked on or is it something else? The car doesn't run any better or any worse the brakes feel the same, so any help appreciated thanks.

alot of times it means that your 3rd brake light is out. You might try and see if its working?

Also check your charging system.... whenever my alternator went out or a bad battery, my ABS light woudl come on, I think its when the car is not charging properly, it cuts off the abs to save on power.

I have had it go off from, bad alternator, bad battery, corroded terminals, and a bad alternator--->battery wire.

Jut some things to check out.

ok, well check on those and i'll still replace the pads. I had the light come on before and my alternator went out. This was about 8 months ago now. maybe I need a new battery or bad terminals. I'll check it out. Thanks for the input.

Just for input purposes, I've had that light come on under sudden stops and jolts on both my 98 V6 and my dads Z28.
