Subwoofers in 94 Z

Z28 Redneck

My father and I own a 1994 Z28 and I was wondering about custom fittings for subs. I don't want to overload the car with too much noise, just enough to have it loud and clean. I was looking at the back panel just behind the rear seat's headrests. Is there any possible way to fit in two 12" or two 10" speakers back there so that the top of the speaker is level with the panel?? If anyone has done this, please send me a pic of it.

Thank you

Should be posted in the stereo section but oh well, just get a stealth box in the hatch, goes on the drivers side on that little shelf thing.

JL Audio used to sell a custom enclosure with one 10" sub that fit in the side drivers side rear wheel well area by where the T-tops get stored. I'm not sure if they make it anymore though. That's what I have. It doesn't affect any functionality of the T-top storage and it was just wasted space anyways. Good enough bass to keep me happy.

This should be posted in the stereo section though.

you would have much more luck in the car audio section here but heres some info. i just bought a millhouse box from subthump.com and it pounds with 2 10s in it. it takes the place of the rear flap and it looks awesome.

JL makes a custom box with one 10w3v2 and they also sell just the box(Vantage box). MTX also makes custom box to go in the side pocket (Thunderform). Hope this helps.

I decided that I just wanted something "good enough" with the Z28. Plus there just isn't a whole lot of room to work with and I wanted the system to be as invisible as possible. I'm very happy with it, but it isn't as incredible as my other system's have been. The 10" is decent, but isn't super precise. It's hard to hear good bass with the rumble of the V8 anyways.

Ive got the MTX box with an Alpine Type R 10" and an MTX 6500 Mono Block. It fits all in the rear trunk area with no adverse effects on T-Top storage and people would swear you have something bigger for a sub. The "stealth box" set-up is ideal. It is ridiculously loud for what space it takes up. Just make sure you get the right sub/amp combination. But I would say the Type R 10 and a monoblock sub amp with the right wattage should be enough. You wont be disapointed. The hatch adds a TON of BASS....just because of the shape.

Try the Stealthbox with an Infinity Perfect 10 speaker. Oh yeah. That's plenty with a couple hundred watts pushing it along. PLENTY in our car.

You can make (almost) anything fit... It's just how much $$$$ you want to spend.. I have 4 10's in my car -- it fits easily.. Granted, I don't have t-tops.. A good custom box could easily cost you $500-$700..

hehe, 4 10's how does that sound? i was debating about that but instead i did 2 18w3's.

Or you could be like me and put a 15'' in a ported well box :D

If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't.. It cost too much for what I got (and I got a deal..).. It probably isn't much louder than 2 12's would be, but the install was more complicated (read $$$)..

pretty much same thoughts here, i tried a 15 ported as well, sounded good but for the hassle i'd stick with the 2 12w3's i had previously.
