CrippleFightin 02-10-2004, 10:21 PM Well I was following my sister in my T/A and she was driving (obviously) her B/F's 01 GT Mustang 5 speed. I was behind her and she calls me on my cell phone. She says she wants to race. I just said start going anytime you want and hung up. So she punches it and I do the same. Keep in mind I am behind her about a car length. So as I get in the other lane I have to slow down to stay next to her and point and laugh, and then pass her like that car has a 4 cyl. I love beating those cars. It all the more glorious when its your sister! Oh good times, good times.
P.S. And yes she can drive a stick, better than most actually.

blackztpi 02-10-2004, 10:57 PM honestly, my 305 iroc eats those new GT's. i have a rebuilt motor, but only modding i did was porting the heads a lil, 3 angle valve job, and ramjet 350 cam. (.431/.451" lift 196/206 @.050) 3.42's, mostly stock 700r4, and headers and catback. yet to make a best run on the new setup, but I've been eating those 260hp gt's all the time. those autos are pitiful, and the 5 spd/6spd (whatever they are) hang closer in the higher rpms, but my torque kills it. Like i've seen other guys say in other kill stories..... it's said when a 93 Z28 would beat an 04 GT. even worse that a 90 iroc l98 (245hp,345lb.ft.) completely stock will beat a new GT by a tick on the clock. that was 14 years ago!!!!;)
blackztpi 02-10-2004, 10:59 PM i meant to say..... that was 14 years ago's technology!!!!!!!;)

IROC had headers and a muffler and a 700-R4... the GT had 1 chambler flows and a 5 speed. It was pretty neat to see the look on fat boy's face when we slowed down and he said "That IROC is pretty fast!":D
blackztpi 02-10-2004, 11:26 PM how did u know it was an lb9? could have been an l03... lol but it is an lb9. i wouldn't have bothered a rebuild with a l03. stock torque is 295lb.ft. on the lb9 305 in 89. that's what wins me races. I'm guessing my power is right around 235-250rwhp, and 325-345 lb.fr. torque at the wheels. my setup should be good for higher 13's on street tires. might be able to run a 13.7 or so with a 2400 stall. right now i just have the 2000 stall POS converter. i lvoe the torque, the the tpi sucks when u hit like 4500 rpm. it all poops out and feels like you're gonna blow the motor when u hit 5000.

What do long tubes give an otherwise bone stock LT1? 10-15 rwhp?
blackztpi 02-10-2004, 11:45 PM steve, not sure on an lt1, but on an ls1, slp long tubes usually give about 20-25rwhp on a bone stock ls1. GMHTP magazine got like 38rwhp from ls6 intake and slp long tubes with slp loudmouth catback. very respectable to be running low 12's, if it had the proper converter, and slicks. and thats still on the 3.23's
BiGGinZ 02-11-2004, 12:05 AM Does anyone know of any 50 state legal long tubes. I have only found shortys that are 50 state legal.

Rich West gained 3 mph in the 1/4 from Just long tubes. I am guessing this guys entire exaust system minus cats has gained him 5-6 mph in the 1/4. Exaust on an LT-1 goes much farther than an exaust on a Mustang. There is a good chance he is running 105-108 traps.
JustaLT1 02-11-2004, 12:46 AM I gained a solid 4-5 mph from just switching to long tubes. I never ran faster than 101 prior to them and ran as fast as 107 after them. However the 107 was in better weather. So an average of 4 mph is probably pretty accurate. I figure 30 rwhp is at least a close estimate of what I picked up if you go by the 1mph = ~10hp.
CrippleFightin 02-11-2004, 09:10 AM Great thing is, the GT has a 100-150 (not sure which) of nitrous. Obviously she wasnt using it, only because the bottle isnt hooked up......:D
And long tubes gain you about 20 rwhp.

Were you beaten as a child? You seem to be a very mean, pesimistic type person.
Teal94Z 02-11-2004, 11:22 AM Its ok, a Mustang lost, the world isnt over ;) :D
Indy93Z28 02-11-2004, 11:28 AM I'd imagine LTs give LT1s more gain than LS1s since our exhaust manifolds are more restrictive than LS1s.

He just asked a question of how much the tubes give the car man.
Yes Steve will defend the blue oval too the death , but he was just asking a question and did not bash in no way shape or form.
Oh and by the way,,, good kill to the thread starter.
WS Sick 02-11-2004, 11:35 AM You mean to tell me F-bodies have a poor exhaust system design?? no never !!:p
Antz97ZNJ 02-11-2004, 11:49 AM Long tubes give a LT1 more then 10-15 rwhp, thats more like shorties...new Gts stock or close to are no match for bolt on LT1 good kill
stereomandan 02-11-2004, 12:18 PM Even MAC mids can get you up to 30 rwhp on a non-cammed LT1. Jordon Musser (sp?) has the numbers on his web page after his MAC midlength header install.
Dynoed 266rwhp/317rwtq with Borla exhaust and CAI only
MAC headers/ypipe/offroad pipe. Dynoed 309rwhp/345rwtq
Check it out here:

What is your problem! All I did was ask a question. Here's another, how much does full exhaust give a bone stock LT1 or LS1? About 20-30 rwhp? I'll probably be flamed by transam41282 for this question as well.

 That is a ton of power for just exhaust! Man, that stock LT1 exhaust must be really crappy.

From what I've seen it's 25-35 rwhp
Catback is dyno proven for 10 rwhp, and add headers and you get at least a dyno proven 15 rwhp more. Those numbers are with the Borla catback, and 1 5/8 mid length headers. I think the site that has the dyno results is www.ws6.com

Thanks, Mikie. I will also defend the truth to death on all cars and things in life. There is way to much bs going on in the world.

Man, I think my car only gains about 22 rwhp with full off road exhaust. The beauty of large displacement .

I'd say closer to 20rwhp and tq all across the band. My buddy had a 96 T/A M6 with the same mods as me (catback) before my LTs and we were about even in a race. When I put my LTs on he would take me by a couple cars off the line (no traction) and by the end I would be around 3-4 car lengths ahead of him! They really wakeup the LT1.

To answer, full exhaust gives about 30 hp yes, your right.

How ironic that you started the fight in this thread and you say i'm usually fighting with other people. Usually when people joke online they say J/K or :p after the joke.

BiGGinZ 02-11-2004, 07:24 PM Was wondering if anyone can tell me of some long tubes that are 50 state legal? If there are any. I have only found shorties that are 50 state legal. Thanks for your help.

I dont think there are long tubes that are 50 state legal. If your in CA and want to do everything legit all you can go with is shorties. Mac Midlengths or anything better dont have CARB #.
BiGGinZ 02-11-2004, 07:55 PM Yea that is what I thought. Thanks for your help.:D

I think FLP's LT setup has a CARB #, so they would be legal. For that $1200 price tag the sucker better be legal
BiGGinZ 02-11-2004, 11:48 PM $1200 dang thats a long way away. Thanks for the info. If you have seen those on a website shoot me the link. Thanks.

Rip off. Get something else instead like sticky tires, cat back, airfoil, cai, shorty headers, stall, etc.
BiGGinZ 02-12-2004, 12:18 AM yea i know steve but i am eventually going to get headers that is why i was asking.
CrippleFightin 02-12-2004, 09:04 AM Its going to be hard to find some 50 state legal LTs though. You might end up have to get shorties. But with a small cam and those shorties plus a few other mods and you can still have a pretty quick car.
Steve Y 02-12-2004, 11:50 AM How are all you guys running long tubes? Are there 49 state legal ones? Or do you guys have "connections" to get past the smog test .
BiGGinZ 02-12-2004, 05:27 PM I figure since I have one of the fastest cars around and mine is still stock shorties will be ok.:D

Some places dont have emissions. I live near Chicago where they do, but I am in the military so i am exempt for now. Also in IL, when they test they check to see if you are throwing any codes, if you arent you pass, if you are you get the sniff test.
