Put a new clutch in my maro yesterday. But no pedal resistance now. The new pressure plate has shorter teeth than the old one, but the throwout bearing still rides on them and the slave cylinder doesn't bottom out. My pedal is bottoming out before the clutch disengages. Does anyone know how far the slave cylinder is supposed to actually move to disengage the clutch? Right now it's only moving 1/2". Could be right, but I don't have another car to compare it to. Thanks for any help. I'm thinking there's air in the hydraulic system still. Or possibly the master or slave cylinder is bad, but nothing is leaking.

You say it bottems out before it releases That's strange, make it bleed and check the fluid. They will go forward the better part of an inch when releaced before they pop, yea I have busted those before $60ea.

Thx for the reply. Got it fixed now, don't buy an O'rielly clutch.....pulled that one out(brand new, not a reman.) Bought a new GM clutch($$$) fixed the problem. Clutch works better and easier than ever and the tranny is no longer hard to shift.

Make sure the truck it's made for has the same type of slave cyl. 3.8's and all the 4.3's that I've seen have a different type than the 3.4's pushrod slave. Thier's looks kind of like a donut.
