04 GTO vs. 98 Z28

There is a guy with a 04 trash talking my Z. Can I take him down or do I need to let it be. stock gto vs. whisper lid, slp longtubes, corsca cat back,and b&M ripper shifter.

You have a great chance of taking him down. But don't expect to put 20 cars on him.

well, it would depend...have you seen what they estimated on the gto 1/4 mile? Its supposed to be like mid 13's. Also your driving skills would come into play, and for the gto if its stick or auto, i would consider that too. Just a heads up

well on the srt forums they claimed a gto kill so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to take one. I think they have IRS so they won't drag as well as you, also they weigh more.

um...from what i read/saw on tv...the auto's run mid 13's and some1 (forgot which magazine it was) got a 6 speed to run a 13.3. if u both are 6 speeds and can drive well,id say ull start to pull him up top w/ the lid and LT's

so far from what ive read about GTOs up this point is that stock ls1 fbodys will put a hurting on them.even a4s with 2.73s.


it might be somewhat close with a 2.73 geared fbody but id still give it a conclusive win even against an m6 GTO.



these cars are too heavy.youll beat him easy since your modded.


im hoping to read about or see someone get a low 13 sec. pass with a stock GTO but its not going to be easy.

You should hand it to him. What does a gto have, an ls1, with I think something like 350 hp, but they weigh more, and yours is modded. I think I saw something on tv that showed these at like a 14.0 1/4 mile times.

At pontiac.com they claim 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. So thats all I got.

theyll run better than 14s.i can see maybe a 13.4which is decent for this car.


dont be fooled.though its heavy it still has an ls1 and with some weight reduction and boltons this car will wake up considerably.


you can bet on some killer times with these cars when its owners start modding them.

So basically i got him. im a good driver ive delt with plenty 6 speed lt1/4 ls1 camaros

You should have no problem w/ him...from what ive seen so far w/ the GTO it has looked less then impressive...There heavy and seem not to trap very high stock

the weight difference is like having your fbody with one big passenger (almost 300lbs.)not a huge difference i would say.

Well the results are in the gto went down. We raced behind the shipping company we work for on a long stretch of road people street race on on the weekends. He got me off the line and had me till about 40 mph until i started pulling hard, from there on to 130mph it was all camaro. Oh he has a m6.:D

Long tubes work wonders on the LS1.

Stock for Stock, both cars should be about the same, Since you had the Mods I knew you would win.

Stop thinkin about it and just run him, who cares if you lose, you can look and him and say "You paid how much more for your are and its only that much faster than mine" and that only if you lose (which i dont think you will), Give him a run and see what its got.
