Killed a 1990ish riced-out VW Golf/GTI w/ the wife's Neon

So the wife and I are coming back on 5 South from dinner out tonight. I'm doing my normal slightly-aggresive style driving, scanning ahead for openings and changing lanes every so often so I can get ahead of what looks like a large pack of lemmings doing 60, respectfully using my turn signal each time and not cutting anyone off :).

Well, someone with a huge chip on their shoulder must not have liked that, because I hear what can only be described as a weed-whacker on its last legs, and suddenly this older 1990 VW Golf or GTI comes whizzing by out of nowhere and cuts across multiple lanes to get in front of me and into the fast lane, where Mr. Intellect slams on his brakes realizing that someone is holding everyone up doing 65.

"Why didn't I drive the Trans AM?!" I wondered out loud. That's when I remembered - because the Neon gets better gas mileage and runs good on 87 octane, and the restaurant was a little ways from home. "Crap. Next time", I said.

I spot an opening in the right-hand lane, punch it in the Neon and get up to 90 fairly quickly and cruise back over into the fast lane.

Biff must've gotten pissed at being "beaten" again, because I see his tell-tale headlights coming up behind me, and the sound of angry bees getting closer. With no one in front of me and light traffic, I step on it and take it up to 100 - and the Neon is not going any further.

I ease off slightly and just keep it there, pretending that "yeah, I just eased off on my own, it's not because I can't go any faster" ;)

Buckwheat must've had the same problem with his car, because he wasn't catching up. Some traffic coming up ahead, I slow down to 70 and see what Skippy is going to do. He drifts over 1 lane and pulls up even with me on the right. I look over to see who this joker is and why he wants to race a Neon  .

Tinted windows, dark outside.....I can't see him. All I can see is that it's lowered with rims and he has a Folgers exhaust system that needs more tweaking.

He punches it, I wait. He gets about 6 cars ahead and lets off, thinking I'm done. That's when I punch it :D. By the time Buford realizes I'm coming, it's too late. He punches it and I'm about 4 & 1/2 cars back. He's trying to get away but can't, I end up reeling him in and had to let off and tap the brakes to avoid running into the back of him. I got close, but not too close, just enough to let him know he was getting reeled in by a 132HP-on-a-good-day Neon. Then my next freeway exit was coming up, so I couldn't play with Melvin any longer, and got off onto 8 East to head home. For some reason he slowed down after that and drove normally?

I wonder if he'll tell of his experience to any of his friends? Nah, probably not :D

Good kill!
The stereotype of chicks driving those kinds of rides is getting old. Look at some of the nicely done up GTIs, Corrados, etc. out there, and alot of them will hand you your ass. Stage II kits (read; II, not III) will put out 500+ hp sometimes and run 11s. Not to mention the already tuner friendly 1.8Ts and VR6 engines.
Good kill, that guy was an idiot, but Oracle don't stereotype.
There's some Civics out there I drool over cause of their style and speed!

hahaha, I wrote my comment thinking "Mr Jimbo is def not going to like this"

You know I'm a fan of the gti. My best friend has a 337 edition, those BBS rims you get with the car is something to drool over and the low end torque and great interior are also cool

However you will never catch me driving a cabriolet
