I mean the car originally had a 93-97 nose with the ZL1 hood....now a 98-02 nose and new hood...why cant anyone make this hood?? its soo cool any ideas..

Are you talking about SLPs ZL-1 Hood? It may have somthing to do w/SLP & GM, Heard rumors that SLP wanted the hood back in 96,when the SS was re-introdused, But GM who holds the rights to the SS logo, wanted it to be an hoodscoop like the earlier SS's. Therefore its an aftermarket product from SLP.

There is a company that makes that hood but its like $1000 if I remember correctly. Do a search on it.

 

Hey Caps, there is a company that makes the ZL-1 hood. Actually 2. First is DG motorsports. Theirs costs $600 for a fiberglass and 1000 for a carbon fiber. RK sport alson makes one. Theirs is called the Big Block hood and it runs around 750 to 800 I think. DG claims to be the "original" manufacturer of the ZL1 big block hood. Now whether that means Moss's ZL1 has a DG hood on it or not I do not know. I have wanted one of these hoods for a while now, just can't get the cash together. A guy I work with just picked up a slightly damaged Z-roc big block hood off a wreck. I was hoping he had picked a ZL1 up, but no such luck. If your not familar with the Z-roc, it is much like the ZL1, but is a little taller with a stinger point coming out of the air inlet, much like the late 60's Vettes had. The one with the stinger is freakin' gross. It look cheesy because the opening in the front is all closed up, and the stinger thing just ends there.

The ZL1 version is awesome, it looks like a freaked out SS hood.

 

the SLP SS ZL-1 hood?? is it just an SS hood?? not sure never knew about it..hmm..or just a name for there SS hood..
But I know the Z Roc (big block) hood and can get that cheep..its not to bad for what Im lookin for in the way of the ZL-1 hood..almost the same thing but only $300 bucks from one company, so for the stinger on it it offsets the price ya know..not a bad hood..
the ZL-1 from a few other co..well thats still way to high for a fiberglass hood..$800 to over a $1000 for what??? TM payents or something...it sucks and dont want to dish out that $$$..would rather buy a Zroc hood and try to shave the stinger off and if it dosnt work and have to buy another one I could..for the price of a ZL1 hood..
any fiberglass co. guys in here that can do this hood??
Its really bad AS$ and would love it..

what do you mean a hood scoop like the earlier ss's? As far as I remember the old SS's didnt have a scoop, just 2 little louvers

Haven't you guys looked closely at the pics ? ? The ZL1 prototype is a totally custom hood. The big Block hood is similar but different... look closer
