Prospeed Porsche big red kit review (long)
Well I installed them and so far they work pretty nice. Pedal is hard as a rock. It's actually kind of weird because the pedal moves so little that it almost seems like the brakes aren't working. Pedal travel doesn't really get any longer; to stop faster, you just push on the pedal harder. Pedal travel is less due to the calipers piston area being smaller then stock. These are 44/36mm. Stock is 44/44mm (or so). The pads are huge! My friend has a 99 Cobra with the Brembo Cobra R kit and my pads are at least 33-50% larger in area, and his car stops really nice.
I had a high speed autocross event on Labor Day at Gingerman Raceway in Michigan. This is part of a series with Midwest Council. For further info see: http://my.execpc.com/~mcscc/
The event format is short practice sessions in the morning (3-4 laps) then timed laps in the afternoon. So it isn't real hard on brakes due to the short sessions. For that reason I just used the stock Porsche 911tt pads. I also bought some Pagid Blacks, RS-14, pads from Prospeed and I will use them at Putnam Park on Sept 13-15 and other normal track events where you go out for 1/2 hr sessions.
Of course the weather sucked. Overcast, cool and humid in the morning with periods of rain. 1st practice was dry and I think we actually got 5 laps. Brakes worked very well. I was using Hawk HP+ in the rear and I think they may be too high torque vs. the stock pads in front because a couple times I still got a little wheel hop. They should be a better match to the Blacks. I think I actually got a touch of pad fade once or twice towards the end of that session. Other sessions were wet and the first 2 timed runs were wet, last 2 were dry. Brakes worked very well but, like I said, this wasn't much of a test. I've got the Putnam event, another autocross at Blackhawk, then the big test in October at Road America. I'll let you know the results.

PS: For street tires I have 275/40-17's mounted on Speedline Alesio's. These are the wheels that came on the Comp T/A's. They fit without any wheel spacers and almost 1/4" to the caliper. For race tires I have a set of Vette 17x9.5 slicers that were used on 91-95 vettes and zr-1's. These wheels needed a 7/16" spacer to fit and left about 1/8" to the caliper. From the looks of it, any typical camaro wheel should fit with the supplied spacers (about 3/16") or none at all.
