I second that, when Im done with my car it wont pass. There is this place called jds where if u get them to install the parts they will pass you on emissions forever or so ive heard.

If you drive less than 5K a year, you do not need an emission test in Pa.

f*** that its not worth payin the labor charge just to get free stickers.well i only put 788 miles this year but thats partially b/c the whole summer it was down.i have a beater though and i think i can keep it under 5k.it would still be nice to have a hook up on stickers though just in case.

I take it you've never seen a real "fake" sticker? They are off in color, and usually in size. The fine is higher ($179 vs $104) than not having inspection at all, and if you push the issue, it is also considered a forged state document, which is a misdemeaner. Just not worth it IMHO. That said, go to just about any garage in the city without an emission machine. Chances are they have them.

The 5k rule applies after your pass your first emission test. We just got emissions here in Berks. My car is now an official trailer queen. It won't come close to passing and I'm not going to push the issue. Saves a bunch on insurance. When the car turns 15 years old I'll retag it as a classic (no emissions requried).

How about instead of "Fake" stickers. You find yourself a place that will just pass your car and give you real ones. Im sure you have a local gas station you go to. Or a local garage that works on your car from time to time. Or maybe a buddy that knows a buddy at a shop.

I think you may want to educate yourself on the full implications of getting nailed with an illegal, fake, or pirated sticker before making this decision.

I was watching this thread, and I think I have an answer for you. Forging or faking a sticker is a pretty big deal. A friend of mine got caught just last year with a stolen sticker.... $1500 in fines, lawyer fees and loss of license for 6 months. Not to mention they revoked his registration. So it can be a big deal... Mike383 got off easy with a $350 fine.

For the record, when you get a car inspected... somone has to put their name on it. you have to be liscensed by the state to give inspections. The history of your vehicle will be on record and they can track it back to the person/shop who obtained the sticker from DMV. Thats why its so hard to find someone to do it now. The days of saying "some shop that closed up last month" are gone. Big brother is watching and knows all. Go out and take a close look at an inspection sticker... see that bar code and the meaningless numbers on it? They can track it down. If you get caught... your the small fish. The state is after the people/shops out there still doing it. You get caught and will prolly get fines and a suspension. But the state is going further and going after the shop...

Oh, and the other thing, when you ins finds out about it, you will be very lucky if they dont drop you. They dont like to insure "unsafe" vehicles. You become high risk, good luck finding new ins.

Now if you can find a shop willing to put the sniffer in the wrong tail pipe... good for you. But forging or buying a stolen sticker is flat out insane! In the long run it can end up costing you more than the car is worth...
