Post Help me compliment whats sitting on my floor.

As of now I have a few things that I am waiting to install. I want to install them all at once so that I can finally be sure that I feel a difference.

Anyway, waiting to go in now are Bilstien HD's, Eibach pros, BMR sfx's and a spohen(sp) torque arm.

I want to compliment these with relocation brackets, panhard and 1LE driveshaft. My questions involve the brackets and panhard bar.

1: Is it better to get the bolt or weld-in relocation brackets? Why?

2: Is it really necesary to get an adjustable panhard, for a car that will see 95% street use? Why?

I'd recommend against waiting and installing all this at once. It's a setup for problems, because if anything isn't quite right, you'll have a horrible time chasing it down. Best to install one or two parts at once, make sure everything's fine (works, no noises, parts made car better not worse, etc), and move on to the next.

I'd get weld-in brackets. Something about chassis parts being bolted in doesn't sit right...

When you lower the car, your rear axle will move left something under 1/4". If you want to center your axle, you'll need an adjustable Panhard rod. This is pretty important if you're running 315 tires, and less important if you're not.

Thanks everybody!

Dave: Thanks, I was thinking the same thing, when it comes to an all at once approach. I guess I will install what I already have, I'm sure I will feel those.

Dan: I will make sure to stop by. I am going to try to set-up in the main pits. If I get there Fri. night it shouldn't be a problem, but it all depends on when I can get out of chicago. Driving from Chicago to Madison then to Elkhart is a pain in the butt.

Bob: this is for the Z28, the C5 is at the point were it takes huge $$$ to get any more out of it. I am better off, imroving on the nut behind the wheel. Good luck setting the SSGT record.

For those going to road America, Good luck and be carefull! If the weather cooperates I am looking to break into a 2:28:....

mike: I dont think that they want people there before 6:00.

As for a ride, I want to take my girlfriend on a "worker ride" sat, after all she does sit around at these races bored off her *** often enough. However, after her lap you can come. You just have to pass yourself off as a worker, and squeeze yourself into the car. I have the fire bottle behind the pass. seat, so legroom may be an issue.

mike: have your father check out this car... www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=104167290&dealer_id=586207&ce rtified=n&max_price=25000&start_year=1999&end_year =2000&address=60614&search_type=used&make=CHEV&mod el =CORV&min_price=1234&distance=any&advcd_on=n&advan ced=n&color=&car_year=1999

We will see if MC will allow me to take a ride.

Thanks

yes, the "grid kids" have mentioned a few times now that they like the nice passenger seat and harness in mine. If they want, I'll probably give rides, too.

they probably don't realize how much slower mine is, lol....

LAst year I gave a couple worker rides and used them as my personal little practice session. I gave one girl a ride who said she almost started crying...that makes me smile

However, this year I guess I will be nice and ask how fast people want to go. With the work I have done in the last few weeks, I should be hitting about 170 mph. YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....I can't wait.

Polyurathane in the front control arms. helps create less binding and crisp steering. i guess you have polyurathane in your sway bars but if you dont...might as well.

a two point strut tower brace is a must when doing stiffer springs and shocks.

Me thinks I should be more attentive to my brake point and less to rear view (re turn #8).

I ran out of gas in the turns the last 2 laps but still managed to stay ahead of the AGS Mustang. Best lap was 2:49.542, so Mike's 2:48.4xx still stands. I never had the guts to run the kink at full tilt, and doubt with my suspension that it could be done. I did improve by 10 sec from saturday, but being 40 horses short it was just too tall an order for me.

Boy, I had a great start, passing a couple cars till I got to #1. I let the #2 BMW back up to get out of the mess....

Oh well, at least I finished and got the 6th sign off.

bobc
p.s. thanks for the pads.

Bob:
I was going to email you about your turn #8 fun. But from now on, you only need to give me part of the road to pass. I promise that there is no reason you need to drive in the grass just so I can get by

Seriously, I had a great time other than my continued computer problems, I never made the 170 mark, but I did get to the high 160's and broke 2:28 before the computer started limiting me....again.

I won't be in Michigan, so I'll see you at BHF.

~Adam

p.s. glad to hear you didn't get beat up in the turn one wreck. Mat, in the teal vette was treated like a pinata (sp) and may be done for the year (he's building a house$$$$) and my Dad in the white# 50 vette, dropped a valve....this weekend is going to cost some dollars.
