plug wires

Well this weekend, I found what was dogging my car down quite a bit, it was 2 of the driver side plug wires out of the loom and touching the header, burned those two pretty good and apparently all 4 came out of the loom. reset their position and got them away from danger and the car is much more responsive, the gurgly, inconsistent, tone has been all but eliminated. On our test run after doing the fix, we noticed the power was back but it took a little long to kick in, the wind-up was longer than i remembered, would there be a simple, cheap adjustment to speed up this wind and release or simply transfer the power quicker?? thanks in advance for any input guys.

If you had wires on the exhaust they're almost certainly burned/cracked through and misfiring. Put a new set of wires on it and see if that doesn't help. Even if they're off the exhaust now, they'll still misfire if the insulation is cracked.

Get a new set or at least 2 new wires for that side.

Plug wires won't last forever. The really cheap sets should be replaced every couple of years. A good set like MSD 8.5 or Accel300+ should be good for about 5 years providing you don't burn them again.

Unless you're really hard on spark plugs, the wires should be changed when you change the plugs. Don't forget the cap and coil also.
