I'm going to get back in to autocrossing this year. I read about some new Kumho tires but they sounded too pricey and short lived for me. Are Victoracers still the best to race with all summer? Is there a better deal out there than $153 at Tire rack. I hate to pay the same as an every day schmo. I always want to good deal.

Are these for racing only??
If so, out of the 4 choices I would consider, it really comes down to how much is it worth for that extra second on the autocross course??
Traditionally, Kumho's have outlasted the Hoosiers in terms of wear, however, most people don't believe they stick as well. BUT, Kumho's work better than Hoosiers in cooler weather. Hoosiers cost more, are lighter, and have a stiffer sidewall.
Of course, all of this will probably go out the window this season because of the Kumho V10 and the Hoosier A3S04 tires. Both are new and improved, both are more expensive than the versions they replace, and no one really knows which one is going to come out ahead.
I do understand that the new Hoosiers should have quite a few more heat cycles in them than the A3S03's did. That will help with the wear issue. The cost is still VERY expensive from what I've seen so far. The Kumho's (315's) are about $25 more than they use to be.
I'm trying the V710's this year. A few more dollars for an improved V700 makes the cost justifiable to me. I paid a lot for Hoosiers last year, got about 70-80 runs out of them with rubber left on the tire. It cost me about $16 per run for those tires. A Kumho might cost me $10 per run, not cheap but almost half the cost of the Hoosier's.

Are prices out for the 710's?

Okay I found prices on Tire Rack. about $34 more per tire. The artcle I read said the perofrmance would come at a cost ofr tire wear. One sproting weekend is all you would get out fo the tires.
I'm not sure how that translate to autocrossing but I can't afford to buys tires twice in one season.

They're probably not unlike the old Hoosiers in terms of tire wear, and I got 70-80 autocross runs out of mine, and they're still good for a school. Of course, no one knows for sure about the V710's yet. If I had to guess, these are somewhere between the S03 and S04 in terms of performance, and around the S03 for wear. Of course, they're still cheaper than either Hoosier.
