Hypertech Programmer Question99TransAmWS6 01-17-2004, 06:38 PM Now i have a 99 M6 TA. Are these programers really worth the money for a M6? I could understand an automatic cuz you can change **** firmness and shift points...but what are the advantages for a stick car? camaro322hp 01-17-2004, 06:52 PM if i had it to do over again, i would save the money on the hypertech and invest it in LS1edit. i have the hypertech installed on my M6, my dyno results are in my sig. not too bad for basically a lid, cutout, and a hypertech. how much of that is the hypertech, i don't know. 95TealLT1 01-18-2004, 11:49 AM With a M6 the only thing that a hypertech will do for you is allow you to set your rev limiter, change Speedo for different gears and change to a different temperature thermostat. I have an A4 so it did a little more for me. Example shift firmness, shift points. I still ended up removing it and have my car tuned with LS1 Edit. When using the performance tuning I lost 0.1 seconds and 1 mph in the quarter mile. For me, my car ran better without the performance tuning. In my opinion you should either have it custom tuned or buy LS1 Edit. Good Luck, Al 94ZRiCeKiLr 01-18-2004, 04:48 PM dont bother with hypertech engine tuning....i ran my car with the engine tuning for an hour and it ran like someone slipped a friggen giant cam into my motor....absolute crap... LS1s seem to respond negatively to hypertech engine tuning while LT1s love it in my experience (3 LT1 friends cars gained power from their's)...go figure... Capn Pete 01-18-2004, 08:07 PM I have the Hypertech for my car, and IMO, the "Power Tuning" did make a slight improvement in power:thumb:. When I first installed it, I noticed some pinging / detonation, so I removed the tuning 'til I filled up with Sunoco 94, then I reinstalled it. After that, the car felt a little more responsive and "snappy" off the line:). I don't believe it makes 20 HP more, but probably a few;). In terms of benefits for an M6 though, the Hypertech may not be the best route. I think the concensus is to seek other means of tuning...........unless you simply want to adjust for a gear change, raise the rev limiter, or want that "little" power bump from the Power Tuning setting:cool:. | ||
