what would keep reverse from gong in??

i assumed the synchros weren't lining up, but i was told reverse isn't sychronized. i can get it in sometimes, other times it won't go in, and i have to roll forward a little before i can get it in. then sometimes i have to hold it in so it doesn't pop out. the rest of the gears are fine though. any input.

You might want to mention what specific tranny you are talking about.

If you are talking about an M6 (manual trans), try double clutching going to reverse and that may help. Also, instead of shifting into reverse right after you floor the clutch, wait a few seconds with the clutch depressed before shifting into reverse. HTH.

mine used to do that as well. if id put it in third, then reverse, itd work fine. (it was either first or third , cant remember, but im almost positive it was third). i had given this trick to soemone else who had the same prob and it worked for them as well. hth:)
