Is it possible to edit my vehicle using a cable that worked for my thirdgen?

I have a cable that works on my 91 RS that I used for diagnostic software, but now I have a 95 Trans am LT1 and T-56 sitting in my garage that is about to be implanted into it along with a 95 PCM. My question is can I use my old cable with the new PCM and use tunercat to tune my vehicle? Thanks.

Risk an $800 PCM

Buy a new cable ... $50

Not sure about you, but I'd spend the $50

Hope that helps

Sorry, but I fail to understand the risk? There is no risk. The cable will work. The cable will work on any OBD1 PCM from GM, years 85-95. The only question you will have is whether or not it will work with the software you plan on running. It should, but it might not. Some cables are software specific, unforunately.

Like Doom says

I use my LT1 cable for 3rd gens all the time. Works for GM trucks, syclones, yada, yada, yada.
