Im trying to find out what the size is on the cumbustion chambers are on the stock lt1 heads, I see some people saying 54 some say 58, I want to get new pistons and would like to keep my compression down under 9.5, I found a set of JE forged pistons that says 9.3 with 58 cc heads, id just want to be sure before I order anything.

Apples to oranges. Max on one, and min on the other, geez. If you want accurate info, do a search. Must be several threads available here, or in tech.

I've heard the arguement both ways on stock heads... 54 or 58.
Chevy High Performance did an article and their test LT1 heads stock were 58cc's.

Maybe you don't understand what I am stating here, in regards to 'apples to oranges'. No arguement, if one reads carefully what is posted several times in the past, and now in archives.
On one hand, respondants claim 58, (which, btw, is the most I've heard anyone declare) no arguement, cuz that is what they are, providing chambers are measured accurately.
On the other, and in reference to 'apples and oranges', a post above, which, btw, is what my initial response is in regards, is stating the actual measured/posted volume for one head, the high side of 58 for the LT1, and then compares that figure to the engineering/blueprint specs of 54.4 for the LT4. This would not be the actual measured volume, on any given purchased/production head. The latest set of LT4 chambers, I checked, measured from 55.8 to 56.8, actual readings! The LT1 mfr. blueprint specs call out 54.0. That is what the above post should have stated, when comparing to the 54.4 of the LT4 chamber.
There is no arguement, if one takes the time to read posts (in past threads, now in archives, and there are several) it becomes clear. Those previous posts have explained, in detail, what they spec out at, what they actually are, and why the difference. In any form or source of info, it's up to the reader, to identify what is being stated. Believe what you want, but I don't care to spend the time writing these posts, if it is gonna end up being hearsay or guesswork. :) FAIC, no point in arguing the facts.
