Question about GC coilovers

I've narrowed my options down to the Ground Control front adjustable coil overs and adjustable rear spring perches because I cannot lower my car. Correct me if I'm wrong - the fronts come with 2.5" springs, the rears spring perches don't come with any springs at all. If that is correct, then what kind of springs should I use in the rear? Can I use 2.5" springs in the back as well or do I have to buy a set of Eibach Pro-Kits and just use the rears. So far I've got 1LE swaybars and I'm going to add a set of Bilstien HDs. Its not a track car, I just want to be able to drive it hard on the street.

For street use, I'd stick with progressive lowering springs or 1LE springs. You can drive plenty hard with those on the street and you'll have a much better ride than with the GC kit.

I like the ride in my car, it's better than when I had Eibach Sportline's and I know it handles better.

BTW, don't assume that you have to lower your car if you run "lowering springs." You can run spacers to bring the height back up. For the front, you need 2" diameter tubing that is thick enough to rest on the shock ring and on the rear I've found that the GC rear perches ($60/pair) will fit many lowering springs (though I can't speak for all). I ran this setup for a couple years and was very happy with it. You get stiffer spring rates without the ride penalty of straight rate springs and the ride height penalty of traditional lowering springs. I ran about 3/4" lower than stock with springs that were intended to lower 2".

So is it going to be a big or small difference on the street between the GC kit with say 500in/lb springs in the front and 125in/lb in the rear compared with the LS1 pro-kit? 1LE springs are no longer in production, they were my first choice.

I thought one of the advantages of the GC kit is I'll have a large number of spring rates to choose from since they use standard 2.5" springs. Can you not get a 2.5" progressive rate spring?

i drove my friend's 99 SS in a fun run at autox, he has GC 500# front coil overs, reg rears, 35mm swaybay, Koni DA

and the ride wasn't harsh, it was nice. i would say ride comfort was not harsher than my 94 Z w/ eibach prokit (progressive) and Koni SA (rebound settings identical to his)...just more grip!

I've never heard of a progressive 2.5" spring for the coilover kits. You can do helper (i.e., compound) spring setups, but I've never known anyone who did that.
