Inside rear tire spinning

I just began noticing that the inside rear tire squeaks while cornering hard. Does this mean my LSD is worn? BTW, how do you tell when the LSD is out and when it isn't?

I'm not too familar with cornering physics, but am I right to assume the inside rear is suppose to lose traction before the outside rear because the weight shifts outward. So would this be normal then? Also, I'm still a novice at this, so have I hit the cornering limit of my car or is there more? I know sliding the rear around is slow, but it felt like there's plenty of grip left on the front while the rears were running out. If I had push harder, i'm pretty sure the outside rear would be the next tire to start slipping.

PS my car is an lt1, so I got an auburn.

mine started doing that, it means the LSD is gone and it's basically just locked all the time

went to the take-off SLP torsen, much better, doesn't do that anymore unless you really get on it.

T2R is best though

I reguarly have the same problem with my Torsen T2 when autocrossing, that's why I'm planning to get a T2-R for spring.

FWIW, burned up Auburns make the car tend to power oversteer, and you start spinning a LOT of inside rear tire. How do you tell when it's burned up? Well, any use wears it. They will work okay going straight for years, but not trying to power out of corners. Serious autoxers (including me in my '91 when in F-stock) changed them once a year, right before Nationals. :)

There is a test in the service manual for break away torque. But more than once I had diffs pass that and work terribly. :( Of course 60 lb/fts of breakaway torque ain't much anyway. :rolleyes:

Wow, I have no idea diffs had that short a life. Oh well, I'm just gonna leave it in there for a while until I'm ready to get a nicer diff(when I move out of FS). Any advice on driving with a bad diff? It just means I have to use less throttle coming out of corners, right?
