Unfortunately, I will be at the beach that weekend. I'm gonna try to catch the gathering in Columbia this weekend. You know the one out on US1 next to Big Lots.

It should be for the second Saturday.

I konw of at least one Buick TR that will be there. That's if I finish the work on it tomorrow night. The owner of the car lives in Rock Hill, so its a short drive to Tubby's for him. It's also a short drive to his house if he needs to change his rear tires! http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif

NO, you're thinking of Billy's car. This one (Drew's) is gray with chrome exterior trim. I just finished the car tonight. Billy just had a shop in Atlanta work on his car. I talked to him today, and I'll probably be working on that car very soon. The ATL. shop didn't pay very much attention to detail on his car. When I'm done with it it will be RIGHT! http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

Indy Chris is around. I talk to him every few days. He's still having nothing but problems from his pace car. I think he's either ready to sell it or blow it up! Maybe he'll post here before saturday, but if not he'll be at Tubby's. He'll most likely be in his truck though. But that never stopped him from trash talking and racing!! http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

"Mr. Turbo", that's funny!! http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif No you're not going to see my car this time. Due to the waiting period of some backordered parts the car is still without a soul. I've been keeping busy working on customers cars and building a 28'x40' shop at the house. You will see Drews car tonight, which could pass for a sister car( http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif ) to mine. And if you check out my web-site you'll see both updates on my engine and my shop.

See you all tonight! Lets hope the rain holds off until tomorrow!

My wife and I would like to host one, possibly the next one, at our house. We have a HUGE YARD, a grill out back, and plenty of room. If anyone is interested, let me know....usually when we have big gatherings, or, when we did in Oklahoma, we go to Sam's Club and buy a buttload of steaks, ribs, potatoes, and corn on the cob and grill everything, and kick back in the yard. Anyway.......
(BTW, I got that headlight up finally, after I beat the living sh!t out of it at the gas station!! Now I'm just looking for an LS1 car to test drive to swap out the taillight aquarium!! http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif)

When was this race getting set up?
I'm sorry but I thought this was a gathering to hang out, talk about the cars, look at the cars and be outside etc..
My wife and I were there for almost 2 hours, we didn't know anybody and didn't know how to approach anyone. I thought people were going to hang out outside so we could check out the cars and ask questions about their cars and so on. We saw a couple people come out for about 2 minutes and then rush back to the bar. We got bored sitting outside by ourselves admiring the cars, so we left.
Maybe next time will be better.

Hey, Glenn, sorry we missed you!! My wife and I were there. We drove our Trans Am, so we were somewhat "incognito". We were in the same boat back in January or February when we went to our first gathering down there. My wife is painfully shy, but I'm pretty social, so I just started walking up to people gathered around the cars, and joined in. We are really interested in hosting a gathering at our house, and that might help to make things a little more social so that everyone is on "neutral territory". I hadn't eaten all day yesterday because i was busy working on my Aerocoupe, and I was starving when we got down there, so my primary interest was in eating before anything else. What car were you in down there? I saw a SWEET GTA out in the lot when we pulled up. I assumed it was yours, and intended to eat and go drool on it, but when we finished eating and went outside, it was gone. I hope you'll give it another shot, and if we have it at our house next time, that will kind of help to distinguish who is gathering ot eat, drink, and talk about cars!!

That might have been my car. My GTA is black. We got there a little early, wasn't any f-bodies in the lot yet. We ate and sat for a bit and then went outside to sit for another 45~60 minutes.
We will give another shot, maybe we will show up a little later this time. I think it might be good at someones house too.

here's my explanation:

i try to run around and talk to everybody at tubby's (as all these folks here can attest to). i saw your GORGEOUS GTA over in the corner, but i never knew who got out of it or anything so i didnt know who to come up and talk to. i looked for someone near it, but i never saw anyone walk over to it or anything. like i said, ask these people here...i go out of my way normally to talk to folks and make them feel more "at home", especially when they dont know anyone. i just never saw anyone near the GTA so i didnt know who to approach. also, i had my sister-in-law with me, and we were both hungry and set on eating. we had been fishing most of the day without nutrition so we needed a little food in our systems.

ed, you need to be more social!! last time you came, i saw your car in the parking lot and was expecting yall to come sit with us but you never did. i was stuck closest to the window and couldnt get out....and 9 times out of 10 i'm stuffing my face with good ol' tubby's nachos and everyone else is eating around me and they dont wanna move either.

the moral of this story: DONT BE SHY! walk up to the chick with the long brown hair and start talking!! i DONT bite (unless i know you!! http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif) and i'll probbaly sit there and run my mouth with you for 20 minutes and you'll regret even talking to me (i'm just kidding). i like to think we're a pretty social group...just make sure you put forth and effort as well. like i said, i try, but no one's perfect. not even me!! j/k http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif
