Chevrolet SS R

Ok I went to a GM dealer to play the hot button game, which I didn't get a chance to do  Anyway though the salesman that was helping me was insisting that the chevy SS R was replacing the camaro! I told him, I said how the hell can an ugly half truck/half car replace a sports car? He said well it does have 395 hp. Ya, but it's a truck! Anyway he really pissed me off, he was an a$$ anyway, I'm sure he doesn't sell many cars. Has anyone else heard that before too? I would think the SS R would compete with the Ford lightning and NOT the ford mustang. Your thoughts? Also, why did they make the "R" look like a ricey "type R"? WTF man, that thing is FUGLY! Sorry I'll end my rant, but I had to let it out.

Many flaws, here are just a few:

1) SSR has 300 hp not 395.
2) SSR costs waaaay too much to be a Camaro replacement.
3) How does a 2-seat retro, convertible hardtop pseudo-truck replace a sports car (like you said)

How come you didn't get to play the Hot Button game???

Well, I'm glad that others agree with me that it cannot replace a sports car, especially the camaro and I guess it just shows how much that guy knows if he was claiming a 395hp rating for the SSR, when it was really 300hp. I didn't get to play the Hot button game because there was no sales staff available. After the salesguy that knew all about the SSR took off to give me a quote for my little brother on a 00' trans am and never returned after 10 mins, I decided to leave. I will go to another Chevy dealership that actually cares about it's customers next time. BTW in case any of you live near Columbia, SC this is the Love Chevrolet by harbison. I have been there 3 times to look at cars and never have received good customer service. I won't return for a fourth time.

Good. :thumb:

I live in Ohio, so I haven't had any experience with this dealer, but my motto is... if the dealer doesn't treat me with respect and courtesy, why am I going to drop a lot of money at his place?

Get'n no love at Love Chevrolet, eh?

Next time I go to buy a car I plan on shopping for a good salesman as well as a car. I'll actually go out of my way to find someone that deserves a sale. It's a lot of money. The customer deserves some decent service, and there's also good salesmen out there that equally deserve to get a decent return for their good work. They aren't all bad....Thank Goodness!! ;)

I agree with you 100% That's just what I did when I bought my current ride. A 02' white z28, I love it and the salesman was really cool and down to earth.

To play the hot button game, you have to either

a.) Participate in a sales presentation
b.) Take a test drive

Ya know I have never been to Wisconsin, but have always wanted to go. Maybe after I have some vacation time accrued w/ my new job I will get to head up there.

And I'm not sure what you are talking about with the sales presentation. It's as simple as saying that you want to give 'er a try, site in the car, press the OnStar button, give the nessesary info needed to play, and then find out if you are a winner or not.

Hey spawnz28, let me know when you are in the market and looking, may be able to help you out. :) The trip to WI would be a change!

I'll take your word for it (you're a car dealer, right?)... just saw that info in the fine print on the television ad.

I can understand using incentives ....

How does giving stuff away generate buying customers?

Gets people in the showrooms.... showroom traffic is very important.

In addition, it gets people to actually use the OnStar for a moment and see what it is about.

Plus, since they are giving them away, I am pretty sure they are tax write-offs...

Wow. I guess you have to buy a car first. The salesman that sold me my Tahoe sends cards on my wife and my birthdays and Christmas.

I have three cars that are serviced there regularly.

I love my Chevy dealer. :p

Now, spawnz28, print this thread and show Red's comment to the salesguy. Maybe he'll consider new sales pitch after that. :D

Saw one of our Dealerships had moved to a larger location. So we stopped in to do some Club business there. We saw that they had a black SSR with it roped off ( what a bummer wanted to really get in side that thing & really look at it)
My husband was talking to one of the sales men & the sales man told us that they were never going to put the LS6( I think thats the vette Engine) in the SSR because GM is stopping production of All LS6 engines & maybe even the Vette. When I called him a lier on the Stopping production on the vette He said well he saw it on the web. They were stopping production of the C5 Corvette & not making anymore Vettes. I had to laugh at that one. I just said Ya they are stopping if not already stopped production on the C5 Vette because the C6 is due out next year.
The Manager came over & told me the sales guy was a Ford person & didnt really know anything about GM. I laughed. Then got to go down stairs were they dont allow normally customers & check out some of the Corvettes they have down stairs.

I saw the one I wanted it was blue & had Commenorative of the 24 hours of Le Mans I want that VETTE.

My brother in law actually got to sit in one while the sales consultant explained all the details to the crowd gathered around it..While it's really a hot rod looking truck,it's a battleship at 4700 lbs.with only 300hp,but the cost(maybe I didn't hear right),was $42,000.It is an awesome looking vehicle, but very expensive.My02

They are marking them up here out the wazoo, I saw one for sale for $58,995 with 300 miles on it in a dealer ad yesterday.
