'05? Hmmm, where were you at? Must have been a prototype.

Well actually my cousin saw one first, (also thought they looked nasty) so I had my eyes open. Ive only seen one though, it was a silver one. I saw it in romeo MI if that makes a difference.

edit: just after I typed this, I saw the american revolution commercial on Tech TV.:D It was in that commercial behind what I think was the malibu maxx. I have to admit it looked better in that commercial than it did in person.

I thought that was the Equinox in the commercial. Anyone else notice how awkward the long-wheelbase Trailblazers look from the side? :p

Oh, ok. Your talking about the Equinox, not TrailBlazer.

So they are making two names of cars that are the same thing???
The thing looked exactly the same in terms of size and shape. Are they dropping the trailblazer?

The thing looked exactly the same in terms of size and shape. Are they dropping the trailblazer? No, they are not the same. The TrailBlazer is full framed based off the 360 platform. The Equinox is based off the Theta unitbody structure. The Equinox is roughly the old Blazer sized, whereas the new TrailBlazer is larger, not a lot but it is. The Equinox will start out with the 3400 V6 and FWD and AWD, whereas the TrailBlazer uses the 4200 I6 and 5300 V8 with RWD and 4x4. Very different animals, you'll see.

Ok that would explain it for me... still I swear it was bigger than a blazer. Sounds kinda like an aztec and a blazer mix.

As for 3400 vs 4200I6, I know the difference there. My rents had an '02 TB with the I6 and a 4.10. I ran a newer GT with it at a light (0- 50 or so) and he barely pulled on me. The I6 hauls once it hits 4k.

I've seen Equinox in person (at last year's Cleveland Auto Show)

I think it look sgreat!

I think it is BY FAR the best looking smaller SUV that is going to hit the market and I truely believe it will be a huge success for Chevrolet.

The I6 hauls once it hits 4k. The Trailblazer is pretty quick for what it is. I was in my mom's 02 last night and raced my friend with 2 passangers in his 97 Grand Prix GT. I had one passanger but after 40mph starting pulling pretty good.

Anyway, I've been very interested in the Equinox since seeing pictures of it months ago. I happen to like the Blazer a lot which is why I'm interested in its replacement. I think the Equinox looks alright, slightly awkward but pictures arent the "tell-all". Dont know too much about powertrain choices and didnt know about the FWD and AWD either. AWD is fine but that FWD makes the vehicle a lot less attractive to me now.

THe new Equinox looks great, I saw it at the NYC auto show last year. I think being FWD based is good for it. last year my parents bought a 2WD Rendezous over a 2WD TrailBlazer b/c they wanted FWD (for the snow). It's good for the brand to have more options.

Equinox is meant to replace the Tracker & Blazer. TB is a Blazer replacment for those that want something a little bigger

looking at the site, it still looks almost as big as the TB to me, even though i cant really judge that from a picture.

I must say it does look better now that ive had more than 4 seconds to look at it, but something about the headlights wrapping up to the hood and quarters really looks bad to me... thats just my opinion though.

I have a feeling this will hurt aztec sales... It rides high, and has awd/fwd and a 3.4 for good mileage. (seems to be what the public looks for)

OK, I'm confused...

In the small-mid size SUV world we now have a Equinox, Blazer, Trail Blazer, Trail Blazer EXT and Tahoe? It seems like GM is doing some overlapping in more than one area....

To me the Equinox looks like a TrailBlazer zip zap. :p

I like them. I want to buy one for the wifey!

:D

I registered somewhere a while back (chevy.com?) and they have been sending me all kinds of stuff about the Equinox and Colorado. I only got a brochure for the Colorado but I got a CD-Rom for the Equinox.

Everyone I have ever talked to who has seen the Equinox thinks it looks excellent, myself included. I agree, it will be a big hit.

I thought the Equinox was was the best looking Chevy at the 2003 Chicago auto show....even better than the SS concept.

The Equinox looked allright to me...tooo bad for the let down old 3400 V6 though. Way to out do themselves on that one:rolleyes:

Blazer dies off after this year, as does Tracker... (I think... that is not confirmed, though... the only way I could see production of either of those continuing is to cover for sales during Equinox's production ramp up, but that is likely why production start early for Equinox (Spring 2004)).

TrailBlazer EXT is stretched TrailBlazer, so it's kin dof hard to call that a completely different model... kind of like Taho/Suburban on a smaller scale, maybe?

I like the look of that Equinox.

I'll be looking for something to replace my aging 98 Blazer in around a year or so.
It looks smaller to me. I want to go bigger.
I think I'll get a Tahoe.

I also like it and think it will be a big hit. I think for the people who don't like it, it's probably the infamous grille bar.

GM's old '2 steps forward, 1 step backwards' routine. I guess that still means it's progress

I think the Equinox will do fantastically, far better than the Tracker. I'm willing to bet it will approach the Escape in terms of sales, similar to how the Trailblazer pretty much caught up with the Explorer.

On a related note, I also think the Colorado will be a hit. Once again it's replacing a dud so the comparison should be easy. I've never been a truck guy, but I find myself increasingly drawn to the Colorado and thinking how it would make a great second "car" to my Zed.
