Tires

Do tires make a big difference in racing? I've heard that sticky tires can help quite a bit, but I was wondering if
A. It's worth it
B. How much a good pair would cost
C. What would you best reccomend for street use

A. It's worth it YES!
B. How much a good pair would cost Pair or all four?
I have several sets on wheels.. I bought the wheels used and mounted 2 sets of drag radials that I only use for racing. I currently run as my all around tire the Yokohama AVS ES100's. These are by far the best tires I have ever run for dry AND wet performance for under $120 a tire.
C. What would you best reccomend for street useSee above for just street use.. Stay away from Kumhos..

since the camaro is only two wheel drive, is it really essential to have all four? Would it make a difference if I just put them on the back wheels instead of all 4?

I think next time I will just get all four the same though because my yokohamas are doing really well in the rain. Plus if you get different tires for the front and rear you can't rotate them.

Where'd you get them for under $120 a tire? The best I've found is $136 per tire shipped to my door.

I paid $127(before shipping) for the Yokohama AVS ES100s from tirerack.com. Theres another site that I think is a better deal though. I think it was discounttire.com, that charges a little more but includes shipping, mounting, and balancing. Not sure who that works though but there was a discussion about it being cheaper because they include all those costs in the price of the tire.

what do you mean by "racing"?

drag racing where you only need the rears to grip

or autox or road racing whre you need all 4 to grip in the curves?

either way they are worth it!!!

think of it this way....even if you have the strength/enderance to run a mile in 3.5 minutes...does THAT do you any good if you have no feet?
