How do you guys set up your manual fan switches?

Just wondering if I could install a fan switch in a LS1 car the same way I can in a OBDII LT1 car. Does this schematic work for you guys? I have put a switch in my LT1, but never in an LS1. Thanks

I used the wiring from the LS1.com Mods page.
All you need is a switch and some wire. Low speed fans only and you can turn them on anytime with no SES.

Why not high speed fans too? Or do they only have a one speed fan?

Because this is the really quick and easy way to get a manual switch by using only one relay. To get high speed you have to get creative and trigger both relays. Low speed is plenty to cool the car at the track.

i bought a homeade kit and when i turn it on it makes the SES turn on...... idk if it does it on the low speed but it does on the highspeed within seconds

But can't you guys just tap into the wires up by the shock tower? I thought thats how you did it on LS1s too, because thats how I did it on my LT1

I know nobody wants to hear this but the slp kit is the easiest way to do it. Granted you can make your own for alot cheaper, but I spent the 39.99 and installed hassle free in 10mins

where did you find it for 39.99?

I did mine exactly like the link from ls1.com...
Works beautifully, altho I had them on at an autocross when it was cold out and the SES light came on once. The engine wasnt really at 210 after my run, and running the high speed fans to try and push some air over the PS setup (which will be getting a cooler soon!) tripped the light. No biggie, just discon/recon the batt and it went away.

Cost me bout 10 bucks in supplies, and I did a custom install with the switch/led's behind the ingnition switch. Dont have to look at it unless I lean, altho I have knocked the switch once and left the fans on as I walked away (they are pretty damn quiet when on low), so now Im using a stubby switch to keep from doing it again.
