Question about factory system and speakers...

OK, I am not to familiar with the sound systems in the birds compared to the Camaro's. so correct me if I state something that is wrong. Here is what I think I have figured out:

-Only Camaro's have/had the Bose system.
-If I have the 10 speaker setup in my 95TA, I have the Monsoon.

Are those statements correct? If my statement is correct about the monsoon system, do you suggest keeping the hatch speakers or ditching them?

I already have a new head unit, so the factory unit isn't a prob.

I am wanting to replace the door's 6.5" speakers, and also the rear seat panel 6.5" speakers. Do I have to rewire those front 4 speakers so that it doesn't go though the factory amp?

Now I am contemplating whether I want 2, 3, or 4-way speakers in the front, and same with the rear.

What do you guys think? What speakers seem to be the best for our cars?

I don't know a lot about the monsoon systems, but I think the 10 speaker is one of them. I would suggest rewiring the front speakers just for the increase in sound quality. That way you can get rid of all the crappy stock stuff altogether. About the 2-3-4 way stuff, I was always told that anything over 3way is overkill, but I just picked up a pair of 4 ways from a friend and I really like the way they sound. My suggestion would be to go to a good electronics store, bring a favorite CD, and check out which 6.5's you really like. It's all about personal preference. But remember, you get what you pay for.

Ditch the hatch speakers. Just disconnect them all together. And anything over 2-way is over kill. How many tweeters can I fit on one 6 1/2" before it's not a 6 1/2 anymore? I suggest tearing out your entire factory system. All the speakers, wiring, and the amp. You already have an aftermarket headunit and plan on replacing the four 6 1/2"s. Power those off your headunit until you can afford a real amp. And have you thought about a component set for the front? You can get a quality pair for like $10 more then a pair of 2-ways.....

Firebirdude - yes i was actiually thinking about a componenet system. I went to a local car audio store and they showed me some componenet setups. I listened to a boston acoustics system and it was awesome....better than any I have ever heard...but it was almost a thousand bucks

I settled for an alpine type r system. It sounded next best IMO. So I think i will go with that one after I get the 4 channel amp to power it and the 2 rear fill speakers. I plan on leaving all of the factory wiring in there in case i want to put all of the factory stuff back in. I will certainly run wires to bypass the factory amp.
