Help with 96 T/A 10-speaker setup

Pardon me if I don't provide all the info you guys need to answer this; I have not worked on car audio in a LONG time, and this Monsoon stuff is really irking me! I'm doing a complete overhaul of my system, as the speakers are shot and the head unit is dying a slow and painful death.

I'm looking to replace all of the speakers in the car when I replace the head unit, so my question is this: should I try to salvage the factory Monsoon amp/wiring setup, ot just rip it all out and find a good amp to run the new system? I did a great deal of car audio work in high school, so I can easily wire up a new system, I'm just looking for advice from those that have been down this road with this 10-piece setup.

Secondly, should I replace the hatch speakers with new component sets, or maybe try to install a mid-bass type speaker? I don't know how much good those tweeters do back there. My other thought on the rears was to get a 5-1/4 component set, put the 5-1/4 in the rear, and move the tweeter to a high mount position on the sail panel, facing slightly forward, above the sail panel woofer.

I'm brainstorming, as you can see, so any ideas are welcome! I am trying to get the logistics worked out, so I can do this project in one fell swoop, probably in April (when the money is not so tight). Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Run ALL new speaker and power wires. If you're gonna do it, do it right.

Forget the rear speakers all together. Get a quality set of components for the front and a subwoofer or two. A well done setup like this doesn't need rear speakers.

I am wanting to know the same thing. Do you mean rear (as in the hatch) or rear (as in next to the rear seats)?

I mean no rear speakers of any kind.

so leave out the seat side panel and the rear hatch speakers leaving no rear fill?

Thats what I'm saying. Unless you plan to have a true surround sound system theres no need for rear speakers. Whens the last time you went to a concert and the band's PA system was behind you?

Neva:D Only thing that will be going in the back is my stealthbox and amp. Should I go with 4-way speakers in the front doors then? Then just unplug the other speakers?

A sub and a pair of 6.5" component speakers are all you need to cover the full spectrum of sound. 3-way and 4-way speakers are a waste of money IMO. They amount to nothing more than a midwoofer with multiple tweeters crossed over at different frequencies.

dude, dont forget about the rear speakers. the ones in the hatch are lame, and would never even dream of mounthing speakers in there, but the ones near the rear seats, that is a lot of your mid range bass. i know quite a few people that put really good component spreakers in the front and put high quality 3ways in the back sounds awesome. i personally love the treb, and put all components. love my setup. and you will def want to rewire.
