Solstice and Saturn sports coupe a go!
Solstice and Saturn sports coupe a go!
Today Gary Cowger announced that Saturn's lineup will increase from 3 to 6 cars within the couple of years. Saturn will add: the Relay, a big brother to the Vue, and a "Sports Coupe". This sports coupe was later hinted at as the soon to be debuted Saturn Curve.
There will also be an official announcement next week that the Solstice will be introduced for the 2006 model year, somewhere between just over a year from now & the following summer.
No word on the Nomad, though I suspect it's a discrete concept (meaning it's different than what's likely to be produced from that styling).
Remember you heard it from me 1st.

Will the Saturn Curve only be a coupe or will it be a convertible as well?
Will there ever be a 2+2 coupe version of the Solstice?

Any word on the "Vue" yet? That thing needs a major revision. That front clip reminds me of trashy SUV's from the late 80s and early 90s. :blah:
This is great news for Saturn though. I can't believe they only have 3 cars in their portfolio, yet have an impact as big as they do in the auto industry right now.

I assume the Wilmington plant which currently makes the Saturn L-series will have to be shutdown for 4-6 months after production of the L-series to be retooled and revamped before they can make the new Solstice and Curve.
Would they cease production of the L-series in the summer or 2005 and start production of the Solstice and Curve in January 2006 so they can start arriving in showrooms in late Spring or early summer?
Do you think they might badge them as early 07's instead of late 06's?

quote from saturnfans:
"V8 Powered Saturn Sport Wagon
August 4, 2003
Saturn fans who have asked Saturn to build cars with V8 power will get their wishes granted in the 2008 model year in the form of a all-new crossover sport wagon. Automotive News reports that Saturn will offer a sport wagon in 2008 with an optional V8 engine. The unnamed vehicle will debut in 2007 powered by a V6 with both FWD and AWD models, based on GM's upcoming Lambda architecture. Sources say Saturn expects to sell 100,000 of the wagons a year. "

Well it looks like GM is really going full force with every brand.
I like the Curve but I think it needs some tweaking in the looks department. It doesn't look as good as the Solstice. Also, if Saturn does get a V8 sport wagon, that really would be something.

Remember that pension fund that GM was going to take the rest of the decade to pay off???? GM will have it paid off by the end of next year!!!

You wanna guess where the excess money is going??

Guess this is what happens when you have a beancounter running the company that leaves the product guys alone (Rick Wagoner).
Unless you see an national economic crash brewing, I'd buy GM stock....now.

Actually No, The Lambda platform has nothing to do with the trailblazer and the new Larger Saturn Suv will be a new crossover type SUV and Buick will most likely get a version of it as well.

Already have VUE, which is equal to Equinox.
Relay will be the minivan with "SUV flair"
I doubt they'll get a versioon of the Tahoe, so that really only leaves the TrailBlazer platform, right?
I can't imagine GM developing an additional SUV platform...

That's ok guion, you can have this one...Edit: Oh yeah, and only look for the base for MY2006. The "GXP" will be coming MY2007. And for the 1000x, turbo! . You did hear that here first...
