mr00jimbo 12-27-2003, 08:00 PM Apparently this girl who lives in Vancouver somewhere has a dad with a 700+ RWHP yellow Saleen. It's supposedly a 1st gen SN95 (I think I heard 97) And when I asked my friend hwo he knows it puts down that much power, he said to me "Dude wtf man, it's a Saleeen it's so loud!"
I told him I could make my 172hp GTI louder by getting a hacksaw and cutting off the exhaust, and he said
"No, see you don't understand, Jimmy; he has the dyno sheets posted up blah blah blah"
Uh huh....riiiiight.
So anyways, I figured if there was a 738 RWHP (Think that was the number) Saleen in Vancouver, it would be alot more famous. Of course it's his daily driver, and it's on street tires
Anybody heard about this? Or is it safe to call BS?
Muskys SS 12-27-2003, 08:36 PM I think it's safe to pull out the flag :bs:
The highest horspower saleen was just over 500hp at the crank.
blue 79 Z/28 12-27-2003, 09:31 PM i call 100% BS flag on this one:usa: ........opps wrong one lol :bs: :D ya well theres lots of people who can "talk" and dont know anything bout cars and what HP actually means
OneFlyn95z28 12-28-2003, 01:38 AM I would pull the BS canadain flag but we dont have one eh;)

talos 12-28-2003, 02:45 PM nice, should get the heads made to accept o-rings so u don't have to use gaskets

Umm... WTF are you talking about? U use O-ringed gaskets numb nuts.
talos 12-28-2003, 05:08 PM Have a nice steamy cup of STFU (http://www.popularhotrodding.com/enginemasters/articles/chevrolet/bigblock/02PHRS1_024Moran07_z.jpg)
EDIT: the whole motor is gasketless
oldschool 12-28-2003, 07:38 PM haha....I'm pretty sure, as BC's biggest bench racer, that I can assure you that there is NO SUCH SALEEN IN VANCOUVER. If it's a 97, I'd be surprised if it could pull 215rwhp. (SOHC 4.6)
Ellis...thats a PIMP intake. Kurtis's old one right? Anyways, what are you doing with your Flowtechnique LT1's?
Are you going to have it out this year? The CPSA is thinking of starting a small tire class this year, if not next year, and your new motor would fit nicely in it:)

Naw, u got it right the first time :p:o:Owned:
jk
Anyways, yeah jim, that's BS. What is it with people and Saleens? You kno that Saleen Stang parked by the three way stop in fron of pw sometimes? Well me and Nate were walkin by and he was like "yo that thingis mad fast man". I was like, that's just an S281, not even supercharged. He's like "no man, that thing has 500 hp man". I tried to explain to him that that was the SR, and that even the S281-E or S281-S make only 365 and 425 hp but he kept on insisting that ALL Saleens get 500 hp and are superfast. Not the first Saleen crazed dude I've met either.
97TA-WS6-Con 12-30-2003, 12:53 PM Well there may a differance of opinion on the use of the word "gaskets" and "O-rings"
"Probably the wildest O-ring in the engine is the silver-plated, nitrogen-filled, aluminum tube O-ring used to seal the combustion chambers. These O-rings are similar to technology used in Meaney's BB/A turbo drag race engine and come from England. Moran has them custom-built for his application and feels they are the future. "We run peak combustion pressures that are right at the limit of a solid copper gasket," Mike says. The nitrogen in the O-rings expands as the engine gets hot and does a great job sealing the head to the block no matter what the pressure. About the only negative we've have seen is when they're cold, they bleed off a little combustion pressure. But we don't race when the engine is cold, so I consider them a great solution."
They may say "O-ring" but it sures seems to act as a "gasket".
*shrug*
bunker 12-30-2003, 03:07 PM Thats not called 0-ringing this is tapered fit sealing where they do that for extreme high HP applications, it works like crap durring warm up since you can't have that & seal at all temperatures, they make the tolerances pretty high so when the engine is cold is has all sorts of vacume leaks & oil leaks into the chambers until it warms up, then its hardcore. O-ringing is where they cut a groove into the block & heads at the CC side where the ring would sit & seal to prevent ring distortion during high boost/nitrous applications.
Now you know!
OneFlyn95z28 12-30-2003, 10:22 PM well guys MY engines will have gaskets;) Why? Because they seal even when they are cold and I drive my cars on the street ;)
Ever see copper head gaskets in the winter time LOL
OldSchool: Yes that is the Intake KT had for a while. It has never been bolted to a set of heads from what I can tell.
IF they ever pull there head out of there butts i will race. That would be a HUGE change from when I contacted them a few years ago and they wanted NOTHING to do with PUSSY EFI street cars ;)
