Anyone know?

I basically want a new radiator for an AT car, and not pay 600$ for a be cool.

We have radiator shops here that'll build a custom one of aluminum, or take the original jugs and join it to a thick full core..for about $200 = full core, custom $325..
Or "Advance Auto"parts sells a new 3/4 core for $150ish..

Wherever you decide to go for a new radiator, consider getting one for a manual transmission car and using an external transmission cooler. There are two benefits to this:

1) The engine coolant does not have to cool the transmission fluid which in itself, allows it to function more efficiently cooling only the engine, &

2) The transmission will run cooler because using an external coil cools more efficiently than the stock in-radiator coil. The difference is easy to explain. Would you rather cool transmission fluid with ~180 degree coolant or ambient air temp?

I made this change years ago.

How hard is it to install the tranny cooler? It's just plumbing lines together right? Where can I mount it?

Tranny coolers are simple to install. They are typically placed in front of the radiator / condenser with straps that are usually included. Cut both existing hard lines and use rubber hose (usually included) to connect the lines to the cooler. Start the engine, let it warm up and add tranny fluid as needed. Done!

That's the simplest method. You can make it more difficult (and more professional) by using hard lines and fittings. Tranny coolers typically have NPT or -6AN fittings. The hard lines are 5/16". I buy pre-made lines at Ace Hardware (not all may stock though).

Well in that case, I'll go buy a tranny cooler cause they're pretty cheap. I hate those hard trans lines....I had to drop my ypipe to switch my starter because of those damn hardlines. HOw much cooling do I need? 18000? 24000?

90z, whats the difference between a 3/4 and full core? What do I have stock? I wouldn't mind spending 300$ for a 1 piece aluminum if it was good quality and better cooling. My stock on is leaking high on the driver side where the metal meets the plastic part.
