Now that we have a really good idea of what C6's front clip looks like... does it make you think "CORVETTE" when you see it? Or something else?

 

Has anyone noticed that the new Viper is looking more like a Corvette....and the C6 is looking more like a Viper?

Hmmmmm......

It's amazing....I have the same feelings about the styling of the C6 as I do about the Mustang.

I feel muted and guarded disappointment for both. I need to see them both up close.

 

Well, I don't know. I know you have to see stuff in person, so I'll reserve judgement until then. I liked the side profile shots from a few weeks ago, but the front.... I see a few Corvette elements in there, the hood dome is reminicent of the C2's and early C3's base hoods, and the open grille is a C2 look, but the lights, the grille and basically the whole front looks pretty Modena to me. In fact, the only things on the car that say Corvette to me from that picture are the fender ridges and the side vents.

I'm not saying it looks bad, I'm just not sure it says Corvette, to me anyway. Would I buy one? I imagine so. But the decision to buy a C6 vs. buying a commuter mobile (G6) and a '70 or so Stingray just got tighter.

 

I don't understand the whole "C6 grill looks like a Modena" thing.

I can see similarities in the headlights and the front fender bulges, but that's it. The openings in the Modena front are at the lower outer corners of the front end. The C6 has one opeing centered and shaped similar in shape and positioning to the faux 4th Gen Camaro grill.

If I'm wrong, then someone help me!

I also think it's wrong to say it closely resembles a 2003 Viper. When that car came out a LOT of people said they made the Viper too Corvette-ish. ???? Maybe it's a matter of perspective. I guess the theory of relativity applies to cars now too!

I really like the new style.. I wont say I love it untill I've seen it in person. But from that one picture I saw in this forum... the head lights are very similar to a Ferrari.

I see how it looks like a viper as well. It's all the the hoods cowel like center portion. If you added a scoop at the front there it would look identical I think.

But I'm still going to wait to see it in person before I make any other judgments.

To me it says Viper far more than Modena. So far I'm liking it.

 

The headlights, stance etc. just scream Modena to me, however I do also see Viper but less of it so I voted Modena

 

Looks more like the Modena, to me.

 

This is odd. Cover up the little styling bits and people would swear that the car looks, for all intents, like a C5. However add the flared fenders and fixed headlights and voila, it looks JUST LIKE a Viper or Modena....

The thing is the Viper moved to looking more Corvette like....I really think you all are very hung up on 2 things.

1. Clear projector headlights
2. Flared fenders

After that, what similarity is there?

 

The lights look Ferrari-like without a doubt.

 

Less than a month ago people around here were saying that the C6 looked too much like the C5

 

Looks pretty damn Corvette to me.
