how tight?

How tight is the Pinion suppossed to be?

I brought an Electric impact gun and Torqued the Hell out the damn thing! I started doing it by hand and evend di the trick extension to it...got it to where there was like 1mm of play but couldn't go any further...So I torqued the Sh*t out of it the gun...now is this thing supposed to spin freely? or is it supposed to have some kind of resistance? I can spin it with my hand but it feels kind of tight ...and that without the Nut on it...Just spinning it with the yoke.

Its gonna be hard to turn hell look at the weight your turning. It should take alot to turn a carrier and the gears. Now ya see why anything that rotates needs to be light, as in light rods. if you got it as tight as you think you can get it and it doesnt move back and forth much mission accomplished.

hmmI must need to torque it tighter than. It has Zero slack...but I can turn the entire assembly with axles without much force.

if you can move the pinion back and forth so much you can hear it hitting it needs more, if ya cant let her rip.
