"Yeah, I trailed a stock 1989 mustang with slicks that runs 15s from Houston to race." They can shove their trailer pieces of sh!t up their ass. does anyone else think 5.0s are total piles of junk? unless they're gutted with a blower. plus they're ugly. only for other people, not me.

That 5.0 was very gutted. Those guys need to realize that we are not freaking idiots. If some guy with a 5.0 with slicks and skinnies, an air shifted tranny, and a huge cowl hood on a trailer wants to race for money, you had better believe it isn't a stock motor. I can't believe that he said that it was, and expected us to believe it. That's ok though. Let them think that they are bad. Just give me a couple of months. Hey brook, I am still interested in the heads after all. I found that they will drop my comp to about 8.8:1 so I would be able to run 9-12 psi easy. Also, when is the next time that you are going to houston? Let me know. Thanks.

Well, tonight was kinda boring, too many ricers and stock trucks coming out, we need to get some more f-bods out there! Still nice to see some ;) Anyways, Rick, just gonna tell you your car is f-ing loud and I don't know how the hell you get around w/out every cop in town following you!!!
My engine is starting to give way I think. Tonight when I punched it out of the lot it spun for a sec, then jumped up to high rpm's but had NO power, it acted funny :dead:. When I sit at idle for more than a minute or two it starts smoking. Is this a sign of bad piston rings? or what do you think? It sucks, but maybe this means a 350 is coming my way around Christmas!!:D Anyways, had fun, maybe next week there'll be some racin?

I think that I should go with 3:42's again, because I already have traction problems, and I don't want to end up like rick. ;) Not to mention that I don't want to shatter my gears. :death: So if anyone has some new GM 3:42's and you want some new GM 3:73's let me know.

Well, i have some 3.42s in my car, they have about 5k on them highway driving with no whine. I'd love 3.73s, but if not that's cool too.

If you're gonna be driving it everyday, the 3.73 should be fine. with an M6, you can do a lot steeper gear than me and still drive it everyday. i only have 4 gears :(

I just kind of see the 3:73's as a waste, because I already have some trouble planting, and it is fixing to get a lot worse, even if I don't do the gears. My first gear will be non-existent on the street, just like ricks first 3 gears. My car will very rarely see the track, and if it does, I don't want to worry about breaking my rear because of the steeper gears. I do really appreciate the input and let me know if you have any more, and if you still feel that I should stick with 3:73's.

Scott, if I do decide to go with 3:42's we might be able to work out a pretty even trade.

Damn, I'm new down here this semester... Lots of **** talking and lots of money racing! I've probably seen some of you @ O'Rilleys. I have the 02 Silver TA w/ ROH wheels and Borla. I'll see some of ya'll around.

BTW - The black car that the young guy drives is the real deal. It ran a 10.20 on the brakes in Ennis in a grudge match against a Mustang. Don't say I didn't warn ya! :)

He' is the real deal. We've known that for a while. Did he build his own motor or did daddy buy it for him and get it installed. From what we've been hearing, he doesn't know sh!t about cars, just knows that his car is fast because someone put a lot of money in it. Can you verify any of this?

Personally I dont know the guy... He's an acquaintence of a friend, but I do know he has a "motorsports" background for whatever that is worth. Ya'll are really bitter and talking **** against this guy, but why? :confused:

The first night he came out talking a whole lot of **** to some people and wanted to run for $$$. He refused to pop his hood or tell anyone what he had. There have been several incidents where he will talk his mouth off and then hide behind his Hanz and Franz boyfriends so he doesn't get hurt.

Just an honest, unbiased viewpoint since i am fairly new here myself.

Well, street racing for money is new in CS, I've heard of 1 person actually racing for $ here, and that was against Stefan..stevie..stef, whatever hsi name is.

I just didn't like that fact that since none of us race for money, he thought we were idiot amatuers. If he wants to race for money, that's fine, go for it, but most people just like their cars and don't need that hassle.

And imagine a little runt bringing a BODYGAURD to an F-body club, he knew he starts sh!t everywhere, and necessitates a bodyguard. How good a guy can that be?

Anyway, like I said, I don't really care about that kinda stuff, so I just hope he got the hint that he's not wanted around here.

Did I ever say i was faster than you? no, but we've raced from a stop before and I put 2 cars on you, then you flew by :D For a bolt-on LT-1 I am fast, but not as fast as you or Grant or Scott.

I'm ok with that, but you're not? do you base your confidence on the speed of your car? Just realize that cars aren't everything evernthough they're a lot of damn fun.

3rd, Rick I don't need to be racing you. Although I know that my car would play with you pretty good with some E/T's. ;)hehe You currently have heads and a large cam. This should put you over 400, :eek: but no race car(yet). If you are going to step into Tony's shoes, then it is time for you to start running people. As of this year, there was a guy(this is from his words) that had long tubes, T1 came, stock rear end and gears and I have yet to see anyone that has passed me like he did and this was out at silicone.(In my opinion)

If I had started coming out this year and didn't know you, I would said that your car was one that had more bark than bite. Rick, I know your car is strong, remember I drove it, even with stock gears it pulled hard. But without a time slip and then stepping in as the next bad ass is wrong. You should be out at the track putting the proof down.(in which you can) When Tony was here(his car had plenty then) would race all the time even on street tires. This showed everyone(even if he lost) that he would run and maybe he was even running the guy down when he lost, but either way everyone knew that it was bad.

We all know that you need tires, get some! See Ed has some on his car. Until you get these don't race and don't be saying what you will do TILL YOU DO IT.

No hard feelings, just know that we all want you to do the best with your car and to meet all your goals.

Chris, I do not know you and do not want to offend you, but with your mods on an LT1 car a 9 in the 1/8 in your sig is not a very good time. I had less bolt-ons and ran several times in the 8s, look at the sig. And Aaron can back me up on that. I ran 9.1-9.2 bone stock. Mine was also an A4 for what its worth.

DAMMIT!!! I need to change my sig. Someone else pointed that out too in another post.

Those times are me totally stock. Not even a K&N filter. Since that time I have added all of the mods you see in my sig. It should be updated by the time someone reads this, so this post won't make any sense. OH well!..

Cool man, just checking. I ran a best 8.78 once and other than that I was around 8.9 so I think the 8.78 was pure luck. So what are you running now, just curious? I am starting to miss my LT1. Can't wait to get my 82 Camaro done. I have the need for speed.

You should be out at the track putting the proof down.(in which you can) When Tony was here(his car had plenty then) would race all the time even on street tires. This showed everyone(even if he lost) that he would run and maybe he was even running the guy down when he lost, but either way everyone knew that it was bad.

We all know that you need tires, get some! See Ed has some on his car. Until you get these don't race and don't be saying what you will do TILL YOU DO IT.

No hard feelings, just know that we all want you to do the best with your car and to meet all your goals.

i know you have the slip, but that mph seems a little low for a 12.8 et. most of the ls1 cars that i have seen running high 12's were trapping 108-109.


and the last time i ran you at the nasty, the best time i saw you run was a 8.8 at 83 or 84 mph. call me crazy but i have never seen a car that runs a 12.8 in the qtr but only runs 8.8 in the 1/8 mile.

If you judge a car by what he runs at Navasota youre gonna be WAAYYY off...I ran 8.6's in the summer heat at navasota with 2.1 60ft's....I ran the 12.8 at TAD a long time ago during a BCS caravan....I have the slip, and a Waco buddy has the vid if you are a nonbeliever......Let me know Jason...

first off, there is a common multiplier that is pretty darn close.
1.55 x 1/8 mile time will get you darn close to to 1/4 mile time.
i can site you specific examples if you really want to see them ranging form 14 sec cars to 10 sec cars.

the LT1 guy is aggieZ28, he did not experience any fuel probs, just geared with 4.10's and ran out of oomph after the 1/8th i guess...he did run the 8.6 at navasota and the 13.9 at HRP

the car had some issues if it layed down like that. 4.10 are not that much different from 3.42 as far as trap rpm. perhaps his springs were weak.

i seriously hope you meant to type low 8's and not low 7's, because there is no way your car will run a low 7 on MOTORat nasty. and you better not wait to far into the night, because the condensation will start building up on the track the later you wait, and we already know how much you car is attracted to guardrails

and you better make some full passes and no bs excuses.

this is from both of us after all the recent flaming and junk we have had to deal with and the immature punks we just couldn't tell if you were joking or being serious. so on our part we apologize also for taking things out of contexts. The reason why we were so mad was because we didn't think a family member would say such things. Rick agrees that he might have problems running optimal times with the track prep at the nasty, but he still is going to try to runn the best possible time even though it might actually take going to HRP to do it. i'm glad you cleared this up. I haven't replied in a while , and I saw the remark about my car not posting any times. I've run a 12:32 @ 122 on the G-Tech on the motor alone , and don't forget that I pulled on Tony who runs a low 11's !!! With THREE stages of spray , I could run low 10's !!! My next run with Tony will be on my ET Street Drags AND all three stages hooked up !!! I WILL whoop stevan ., I have "NO" doubt about THAT !!! Now that I have some ET street's , I can put the power to the ground !!! Then I have a set of 1.6 RR to put on and I'm going with a Super Victor also for an additional 25 Horses !!! That seems expensive for the hooker cat-back, but I don't know much. If I had the money, I'd get the Dual-Dual. They will all be loud. LT1s are just loud.

Hooker's would be what I'd prolly get though. Get a used one cheap. I love Hookers. They are great. Not too loud but have great performance and hardly any of the fuss as other systems :D:D

Aaron you can get a dual/dual for cheaper than that. Look on ls1tech.com, they are always for sale. Dynomax is good, but it will rust eventually. Also Hooker's tips are pretty crappy, they'll rust in a week. But its a great catback.

Cutouts get annoying. The gaskets break and then the screws come loose and it makes an awful sound. The catbacks flow just as good as the cutout also.

Hey scott, how loud is the dynomax superturbo compared to the hooker. I am looking for something quiet around town, but still has some growl when I romp on it.

It is not loud at idle at all. Now with you having a 355 and going to a 306 with a blower, no matter what you put on your car it will be loud at idle. And do not get a 306 on a 116. get a 114. it will be a good cam for a blower. A 116 ls will not work very well. If you do that you might as well stay with the hot cam.

Either way for less than $140, I think that it is going to be hard to go wrong. I don't think that I am going to get a 306 any time soon at all. Just wishful thinking. I think that I am going to get some heads and some tuning, and see how far I will be able to get with my hotcam. Not to mention, some longtubes may be in my car's best interest after all. Just got done changing my plug wires, and it only took me 3 hours! Woo hoo. One of my wires was VERY loose on my opti, it came right off without even hardly pulling on it. It also idles a lot better now. Maybe I was only running on 7 cylinders? Oh, well, I am going to take a shower before I take it around the block. I will let y'all know if there is much difference.

POST TEST DRIVE: OMG It is Awesome. I know that I was only running on 7 cylinders. It is so much smoother, and quieter. It also pulls much harder. I scratched 3rd without even powershifting. It is a completely different car. I just can't wait for my LT4 KM and my catback. Then, who knows. :D :D :D :D

Haven't ordered a panhard yet, but I will soon. What do you reccomend as my next step scott? heads, tuning? Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

LMAO Well, my 355 project is no more now b/c my crank is no good. So now I am stuck building a 383, I just hate it when that happens. I also picked up a 4 bolt main block and some diamond forged racing pistons. Now, I am broke for the time being. Project is still set to be done in March though.

Hard to explain, it doesn't seem to want to stay in 3rd and it take a leg and foot to get it out of 4th. I woudl be willing to bet that the 3-4 shift fork is bent. 6-speeds are very notorious for that. That will cause 3rd to not hold gear and pop out. I have the same prob with mine. Except that my synchros are gone and my output shaft bearing is gone too.

Anyways, I think my gears are getting ready to die also. So we amy try to do something next wed if you want. Like I said I just want to see what the top end is like mostly.

Car is running much better with the new opti. It starts faster, no hesitation, smoother. It is nice.

Anyways, tell the dealership that you think the 3-4 shift fork is bent and see what they say.

The dealership tells me that they think it may be the forks in the trans. and that they will replace them with steel forks instead of aluminum forks. I hope this is simple problem but it should be ready by Thursday.

I let the exhaust rust off of it for more flow and it has Engine Restore in it so I can twist it to those high rpms. Not to mention all the carbon deposits have raised the compresson ratio to something around 16:1.

Well, everyone who wasn't there tonight, or left before say 1:00am, missed a somewhat eventful closing.

The R1 Casper rolled and trashed his bike, and when stopping to help, Scott's car was side-swiped. Half of the door went flying into Huy's eclipse, and the other half slammed shut. I had been exiting said door not four seconds before that happened. We stopped to help when he fell off, and these two idiots went screaming through the accident area. If we hadn't moved the cyclist, they would've run over him. Kyle was standing no more than two feet from where the other car hit Scott's bird.

The motorcyclist is OK at last check. He was consious, moving and seemed to have only hurt his ego a bit. He is at the hospital getting a check-up, but said he was OK. A piece of Scott's Firebird flew off and hit Huy's girlfriend, and glass and fiberglass was everywhere. The license plate from the R1 was almost 75 yards from where the bike ended up.

Hopefully the police got the guy that hit Scott's car, and the R1 driver is OK.

We were at Hastings in Bryan. Christian (in the red Supra) chased the guy down and got his plates, and they're taking care of it. He and the truck that was there were evidently buddys and the truck was trying to hide his plates. We got 'em though.

We have footage; but nothing of that. Mostly of the Viper that came out and his runs.

And I'll be able (maybe) to enter the beater races next week. Getting a 1985 Volvo 740. Once I get it running semi-properly, it'll smoke all of your daily beaters :)

It does't make much sense to trailer the car all that way and be turned back due to tech inspectors telling you that your car doen't conform to tech regulations !!! I built the car for the street !!!! Even if they let me run one time , it's still a waste of money !! I need a cage , a battery box , a driveshaft safety loop , a kill switch , etc. , etc. !!! Start running an 11:99 or better and see what I mean !! If I roll in with slicks on and two plates of spray and the sound of the cam , I wouldn't make it past the tech people , let alone make ONE pass !!! I am torn right now between going with a th350 and a th400...why did you go with the th400 over a 350???
I have a guy waiting to swap his 400 for my t56...so please let me know soon!

Ed.......I raced you to the very top of my 4th gear which is a 1/4 mile! I pass the traps at 125 (n/a) at the top of 4th. I spun through 3rd gear and a little in 4th. Come on! give me a break. Street racing really sucks. A pinto could have hung with me that night on the street at least until about 60 mph. If I was actually getting traction, I would have left you behind from the start! And yes.....my car is still streetable....I start driving it next week everyday for two weeks to work and back(10 miles one way) because I am loaning my truck to someone. I still have a/c , cruise, radio/cd, power seats/windows etc. How is it not streetable now? I will drive it at least 3 or 4 times a week probably more. Im not bashing you or your car. It is very fast and I respect it and you. I respect you because you do all the work like I do! I will come down with stickum tires and you put on the same. Then we both will be putting the power to the ground and we will see what happens. It is always fun racing you! See you soon!

Rick....I really prefer to stay with my t-56! But.....I got to the point of too much power and torque. When you start twisting and breaking out-put shafts, driveshafts, 9" rearends, and torque-arms, that is when you have to upgrade to a stronger tranny and d-shaft. The Th-400 is a stronger tranny that should never give me any problems. The 4500 stall will flash at 4000 (n/a) and 4600 on N2o, while street driving the slanted angled t.c. drive will allow about a 3500 range of stall. I plan on going solid-roller next summer and maybe a 350-shot so I cant have any weak links in my drive-train. I think you should stick with the t-56! A LS1 does not have the torque that a LT1 has. You should be O.K. Hell.....keep that good gas milage while you can!

TH 400's are Much stronger than a th 350. My dad used to have a th400 in a chevelle SS when he was younger, and he told me that he tried to break it to see if he could. He would floor it in reverse, then switch to drive, and gun it. Never did ANY damage to it at all. They are BULLETPROOF.

the reason I plan to swap is I want a setup that will 60ft like a mofo...yes a t56 can do it but I am lazy :D
My gas milage allready sucks...in part to the tuning still kinda $hitty and the fact that I have one hell of a lead foot...:p
I will also feel more comfortable spraying with the th350/400 than I would with a t56...miss-shifting is bad :death:
Unlike most of you I am not really into the comfy daily driver thing, just want something that will rip up the track and possibly for once hook up on the street...
I was thinking of either going with a 3.73/4400 combo or a 4.11/3600 combo...what ya think?

Rick , the more gear you have , the less stall is needed. The more stall the less streetability your gonna get. I put a 3500 in my car last year when I rebuilt the tranny , and took it out the next day cuz I go to work on the bypass and I usually tach about 3100 to 3200 and the convertor wanted to go to its stall point and the more the torque convertor slips the more heat you have to get rid of , and I didn't want to burn the tranny up prematurely , so I put the 2800 back in it. Tony's car with the 4.11's and the 4500 convertor is going to be wicked on the track , but his car isn't going to like the hyway. I'm getting a 4L80E from a friend which is a T-400 with overdrive , then I can go to 4.11's and a 3200 convertor and have the best of both worlds ! Another thing to remember is that if your gonna spray , you're not going to need alot of convertor cuz nitrous builds a TON of torque and it makes most of it down low ! Look at Steve Faraday's setup , mild motor , mild gears and only a 200 shot to run low tens !! Ed

Unless Tony is willing to put some money down Stevan will not race either one of you...He doesn't believe in racing for fun I guess...so sad :(
