friend has 98 TA, threw a rod. block is toast.
found a 6.0 LS1 block, i wanna re ring, hone and new bearings.
will this work, or do i upgrade pistons?
his upperhalf should right (intake,heads, headers)
need to know ASAP

If your just doing a stock replacement then skip the iron block. Just get a 5.7 aluminum replacement. The extra weight would totally blow any gains from the extra .3 liters

If all you're going to do is basically clean up a 6.0 block and throw the LS1 heads and intake on it ... like Al said it's really not worth it ...
Now if you want to do it right, bore the 6.0 out to 4.033, get yourself a forged 4.00 crank, rods and pistons, port the heads and put a decent cam in it ... then you'll have something ... a sweet 409 that should be pushing 500 rwhp N/A.
I have friend who's running 10's N/A with that set up.
Eagle's come out with some economically priced forged cranks and there're already folks that will sell the crank, pistons and rods for $2000 ...
