Ok, this is what i did to get an average gain of 70 more miles per tank of gas.

Poured in the Pyroil Engine flush, ran the engine for 5 min. Then changed oil like usual. Put in the new oil, drove the car till it was on Empty (only took about 10 miles  ) Then filled up with Premium gas. Then poured in the B-12 Chemtool into the gastank. After that I went from averaging 200 miles per tank, to averaging 270 miles per tank. And that is not driving it like a grandma, I like to put my foot in it. :D

All of the stuff cost me about $9 at Kragans. Has paid for itself MANY times over. I've run at least 12 tanks through, and the lowest I got was 255 miles to a tank (which was just once). Everything else has been 270 and up.

Is there any side affects? (loss of power, dirtier emissions, long-term affects, etc??)

Well I did it like almost 3 months ago, and everything works fine. No side effects. Nothing long term so far. Although my track times were more consistantly grouped closer together.

You only get 200 miles each tank? That's insane. I get around 275 with mixed city and highway driving, and the needle is close to E, not on it.

did F-bods get a bigger gas tank starting in 99? I only get around 200 miles in a tank in my 98 also.

That is definetely an interesting method...

Then again, I'm averaging 23+mpg anyway, so I doubt I would really benefit from such treatment.

Like I just posted in another thread, comparing the miles driven on a tank is not really accurate since we all fill it up different amounts of gas.

It would be more accurate to compare the calculated (miles driven/gallons filled) miles per gallon.

There are many other variables, too, of course...

I get about 250 with all city driving.

yeah, 98's have smaller tanks: 15.5
99 and up has 16.8

I'm just saying what worked for me.

I have a 99 SS and I get 200 miles to a tank.. which is filling it up all the way and taking it to E... average of 15 mpg every time I fill up, for the last 4 months that I've had it... I have driven once on an all freeway trip and got 24 mpg... why isi that you guys can get so mucm more than us? is the bolt ons and mods you've done... cuz mine is stock except for slp d/d...

Never heard of Pyroil before .

Oh, do you think the Chemtool might have been the effector ?

I used to use Red Line fuel treatment fairly frequently - 'til Pep Boys closed their stores in my area :( - and it seemed to really help fuel economy when driven reasonably.

When I put the hammer down :D , especially in cold weather, my mileage goes to shiat. :p

This is a little off subject, but is that time for your SS in your SIG the stock time?!

I don't think the gas tank size has anything to do with gas mileage, other than the fact the you might have to fill up sooner. I doubt a Camaro with a smaller tank will burn fuel any differently than one with a larger tank.

yea but they were talking about how many miles they got out of a tank of gas

That's the best time (so far) w/ the mods on the car.

The way it runs on the highway, I am sure it has better than a 12.9 in her, but I'll be damned if I can get the tires to stick well enough in cold weather to prove it vis a vis track times !! :D

yeah I was talking about per tank, not MPG. Although I went from about 14 mpg to about 20 mpg around town. Haven't figured out freeway mpg.

Maybe you should try this stuff then. It really helped me. Only cost $9

Yeah mine has only come on when i put the car in acess or when i mash the pedal and shift at redline, will it say check guages. I ddint know it was also a fuel indicator?

But i am due for an oil change so we will see how this works. I use mobile 1 synthetic. Is that what u used when u did this test?

2.73's, LS1....you should be getting much more than 270 miles out of a tank of gas.

That's 17.7 mpg!

I get 25mpg on mine, 30mpg on the highway. 400 to a tank, I have an 02 so my gas tank holds another gallon or so more though.

Actually I'm getting 20 mpg around town. 270 miles on a 13.5 gallon fill-up. Also, the 98's only had a 15.5 gallon tank. 99 and up has 16.8, another reason you would get more miles out of a tank. I don't do a lot of freeway driving anyway. I was getting like 13 mpg, so I'm REALLY happy now.

I get like 225 outta mine before the Check Gages light comes on...

of course I drive like a dick... but thats a different story... Best I got was 300 and that was ALL highway driving up to and back from CT...

.....years later..... bringing this back from the dead. Man there are a lot of cobwebs on this thread!

I now have a LS3 427 in the car. With my auto, I got 8mpg around town, 13 freeway LOL. I'm in the middle of a T56 swap, so we'll see what it goes up to. if it does 12/17 I will be happy....with 650 hp. hehehe ;)
