Hot Rod Magazine artical US vs. Japan???
Hot Rod Magazine artical US vs. Japan???
This is knida random but in the artical it claims that the STI runs a 13.2 1/4 mile and a 2003 cobra runs a 13.3. I know a 2003 Cobra is a heck of a lot faster than that!?!?!?!???
I bought that last Friday and its still in the bag
I think I will read it at lunch.
As to the Cobras #'s, I don't think they can drive anyway
BTW I surfed passed HRTV last night and I heard them say some kids seen that STi and thought it ran 11's stock

I just read that yesterday.Something to keep in mind. The Subaru is all wheel drive and they had the power split 50/50.and the Cobra is just rear wheel drive running on F1's (I believe) so as far as traction goes the Cobra is very limited. Also look at the trap speed for the Cobra that shows alot more potential with a good driver/stickies on it.I am not knocking the Subaru at all one because GM owns almost 1/2 intrest in them and more importantly wether it is a ricer or not that car is bad a$$.I am not one to stick up for rice but that car just gets it.I saw WRX(not a sti model) running mid to low 12's when I lived in Arizona last year with just a few mods done to it.I definetly respect that little $hit box.Over all though I would still take the Cobra hands down put a little change in that and you are looking at low 12's high 11's

I guess that just shows my ignorance in rice car tuning.I talked to the guy and he told me that he turned up the boost on it and did a few other small things to it.And now I definetley see that I mis spoke myself. He was running mid to low 13's not mid to low 12's. his best that I saw him run was a 13.20.Sorry for the confusion.Does that sound more realistic

Yea the Cobra was limited by the driver ability and track conditions. It could easily run lower 13's if not high 12's. The STi however was running as good as it could. Its easier to launch and coax better performance with more repeatability than the Cobra.
I read it at lunch today,if the Cobra got a 1.8 60 ft like the Subaru it would have ran a 12.7.
I remember when a real car magazine would bring the sticky tires and see what the car would really run.
That article might as well have been in Autoweek or Motor Trend

That is exactly why I let my subscription run out on that $hitty rag. They also ran a article on a 8 or 9 sec Talon/Eclipse.I did'nt read it but I remember seeing the headlines on it.That is very respectable/amazing, but not Hot Rod Material in my opinion. That belongs in the ricer times or fart pipe monthly. They have their own rags to feature cars like that why do they need to invade Hot Rod.You don't see any LS1's or 4.6/5.4 Modular motors or cars featured in there magazine.Hot Rod says they are being true to their roots and it's all about building a hot rod. They will realize this sooner or later just like they realized all of the Van coverage and VW coverage was a mistake in the 70's.I am sure that I am not the only one who let there subscription lapse due to this.I got the magazine from my friend when he was done with it.He knows I am a ford tech and would like to see the Cobra article but I would have never paid for it.The thing that pisses me off is that they skanked Matt King away from Car craft to go run that crappy show now. just my .02

I agree i mean not to knock the wrx it is a sweet car but i think you could get the cobra to run in the 12s with stock tires. I would also think that such a magizine as Hot Rod would have a driver that can launch a powerful RWD car. What the heck is the WRX doing in Hot Rod anyways?
