Making the Stealth Ram emissions legal

I'd love a Stealth Ram. Basically because they're cheap and pull like crazy up top and only $300 from Summit. But where I live, we have to pass emissions sniffer/visual. Is all that the HSR is missing is EGR? If so, is there any way to route the factory, or even aftermarket, system to the HSR?

I know the TPI corvettes had a different setup than the camaros. I think it was mounted on one of the exhaust manifolds and used a set of tubes to route the recircularted gas back in.

I think pics would help, anybody got em? I want to do the same thing.

Here is how I did mine on my Corvette heads:

However, the Holley Stealth Ram doesnt have a port for EGR. There isnt a way to add it that I know of.

Couldn't you just drill/tap a hole for the line coming from valve to intake?

Take a look at how a stock one does it and then see if you can recreate it. I know I cant. Where are you going to mount the EGR valve and solenoid? How are you going to drill into the intake to add the exhaust gas?

And even if you did make it work, its still not smog legal because Holley didnt certify it that way.

Maybe you could use the EGR kit that Scoggin Dickey makes for their TPI vortec bases. I'd give you a link, but their site appears to be down at the moment.

So if the manufacturer didn't certify a smog device, it's not emissions legal regardless? Geuss it's a lost cause....I really don't want to spend $800 on a superram or miniram though...Oh well.

Really, How long does an intake swap take? I never really did understand you emissions people I could do an intake swap in a matter of hours. Just go get the sniffer done with the TPI on there, come home, take the afternoon to put the HSR back on. I'd do it, but I don't have to.

You could always use an LT1 intake, it has EGR.

Yeah, here in CT a car only needs to be tested every 2 years.

When you modify the intake to work on a Gen 1 SBC, you have to get rid of the EGR system.

In the parts of Pa where there are emissions 95 and older are only visual and if the car/truck is driven less than 5k a year it's exempt. My Iroc only has 11k in 3 1/2 years and i myself have been thinking of doing that swap.

You lucky girl. I think I'm getting a datamaster for xmas. I hope I hope. But after Xmas, I'm going to pick up my new, used LT1 block. No emissions here either, thank God.
