does anyone have an LT1 SS hood from http://www.fiberglassfabricatorsinc.com/?

Thats a good price, but in the one pic they give you, it doesnt appear to line up with the headlights correctly. any feedback on this? Also can this be a functional ram air hood?

thanks

It doesnt look too bad to me. Without seeing the bottom of the hood its hard to tell if its functional. CAI is better anyway.

how was the fit and finish of the hood?

the front of mine sits about 3/8" below the lip of the nose of the car - if I increase the spacer height so it lines up, then the sides are higher than the fenders.

I had a body shop paint and install it and they were not impress with the quality or fit.

Shipping it back and getting a new one would have been too expensive.

you can see in this picture that the front of the hood looks tucked in under the nose - it's because the nose sits higher

so they hget a 10 out of 10 on price but a 5 on quality

I have their hood, pics in sig.
Price was good, and since it is way below the price of other brands expect a few flaws.
I spent alot of time making my hodd fit as good as it does now, but I still would like it to fit better. I just don't see what else I could do for it though. If you notice in my pics the front corners are lifted a bit.
The hood can be made functional but I cannot find a detailed enough how-to to complete mine. I know the hood needs to be cut, I just don't know howmuch and where. So I won't make mine functional until I know this info for certain. I do have an airbox already though.

Try this site, www.usbody.com. Don't know of anyone who has one of their SS hoods, but it certainly looks like high quality construction and can be made functional. I bought an SS hood for my '94 z28 from fiberglass fabricators, inc. Was very disappointed in the workmanship and sent it back. My body shop's estimate to make it look good and fit right was $400! Others on this board have had excellent experience w/ their hood from FFI. Too much of a crap shoot for me!!! Hope this helps.
Thanks!

Well, I think im gonna pass on that hood... Seems like all of you are having alignment problems with it, and I dont want to be fooling around with that -- much.

Anybody know of a better one, even its a little more? I really dont want to fork out the 800+ GM wants, and thats not including paint

Try suncoast, just remember that any aftermarket hood will most likely have some fitment issues.

Did you try www.usbody.com? Their SS hood is 1.35 inches taller than OEM and costs<$700.00.:)

Getting a OEM SS Hood would please you. I got mine on ebay for 650.00 i think the extra 250.00 was well worth the quality and fitment. Pics in sig

Can anyone tell me if they manufactured ANY Z28's with the cowl hood that comes on the SS? We purchased what was advertised as an SS in Houston last week, now I'm just wanting to figure out what was on there stock and what was placed on aftermarket. It's a beautiful car, just curious about its history.

Thanks in advance!

A stock z28 will have a flat hood. No z28s were produced with a ss hood. The ss hood is not a cowl induction hood. The cowl is and aftermarket hood. If your car has a hood with a scoop facing foward then it is a aftermarket ss hood, or a original GM hood but off of a original ss.

Many aftermarket SS hoods second as a cowl...

im assuming that one from U.S. body would fall under that category, correct? If it seconds as a cowl, would that be for induction, or engine cooling?

It would be for both....the engine could pull cooler air through the small cowl and release heat...well now that I've typed that it sounds a bit strange...
