There was a collision this Saturday at Carlsbad between a Z28 and a Bullit. It brings up all kinds of questions and concerns over how various insurance companies handle this as well as personal liability.
I've checked with my carrier and they claim there's a clause in my coverage that would exclude any damage due to racing. I haven't actually looked at my policy to verfiy that but I would imagine it's there. A local guy had his car burn up on the track and the insurance company covered it! It was an insurance company out of Florida and he knew it specifically would cover racing. Anyone else have any experience to share on insurance and track accidents?
As far as personal liability, I know we sign a waiver before we race that essentially holds the track as harmless in the event of an accident, identifying the sport as dangerous, etc but what about laibility between drivers? Anyone ever been in a situation like this?
All views, opinions and experience welcome. Thanks folks.
