94irocz 11-30-2003, 10:55 PM Got the car back last saturday with a rebuilt tranny and a vigi 2800 stall. Car now has 3.42's in it rather then the 3.73's listed and the computer is not retuned for that or the new fuel pump thats in there now so it beats the rev limiter and runs a lil rich. So not an excuse just stating that there is some et left on the table.
New best was the last run of the day: 12.43 at 108 and some change. 1/8th mile was 7.91 at 87.xxmph. 60' was a 1.77
this was done with et streets mounted on pro stars. Lca's and relos for suspension. And a stock weight car.
I'm pretty pleased

scott9050 12-01-2003, 02:46 AM Good time. Where did you run at? Rockingham? I know that is the closest 1/4 mile strip to Durham (I used to run the 1/8th at Roxboro when I lived in Rougemont).
94irocz 12-01-2003, 03:12 AM Ran at fayetteville dragstrip. Just as close as rockingham and 10x stickier.

jkbadz28 12-01-2003, 07:51 AM Nice run there Joe. With some weight out of the car and some skinny's up front you should get some 12.2-3's easily.

I think with it running right it'll see 12.3's and with some skinnies up front it might run what you use to run. But my goal is to run faster then what you did with the same mods. :D Not sure where to start taking weight out of it though. Since its still my only car.

Camaro_Guru16NY 12-02-2003, 10:28 AM Nice improvement there. With a little more tuneing you will be right on.

WS Sick 12-02-2003, 10:41 AM I try to tell some of these local people how much a good converter helps but they will never understand until they get one and see the diff.

Congrats, but I hate you. We won't be racing again locally for five full months :(

Thanks for the congrats. The track here stays open on sundays through out the year so long as its over 40 degrees. Maybe you should bring the beast down here for some good cold weather action. :D
I think there is a bottom 12 somewhere in the car provided evertying is right since last time out as the day went on I was getting faster. I'm not sure how long I'm gonna keep those 3.42's in it. Yall think I'll gain much from stepping back up to the 3.73's vs the 3.42's that are in it now?
Joe
Robert95z 12-03-2003, 07:29 PM what did u run before the stall? and why step down to 3.42s?
94irocz 12-03-2003, 09:10 PM Old best was on street tires. It was a 12.75 at 109.87 with a 1.97 60'. I stepped down cuz I destroyed the 3.73's I had and needed some gears quick so I got some from a friend who had some laying around.

No you don't!!!
MidMich Motorplex opens the first Wed. in April and has Wed. and Sun. T&T all month.
94ZRiCeKiLr 12-08-2003, 12:48 AM good time!
Excellent times. Low 12's with the tuning is a definite. As far as weight reduction goes, I took out the back seats, spare tire and jack. That was a total of 60 lbs. Then I removed the A/C compressor which weighed another 35 - 40 lbs. A 100 lb. loss could net a possible .1 in the 1/4. Good luck.

Yeah I def need tuning. Its very rich and the shift points are all beat up. I still have the backseats in, forgot i had put the spare back in there. I don't have the a/c charged, I am still debating whether or not to take it out since its still my only car and it gets quite hot here in the summer.
Thanks everyone for the congrats.
Joe
97 HMS SS 12-13-2003, 10:02 PM Get Jeff to tune it again, and next time stall it up. You got that new best pretty much launching off idle. I am pretty confident that car has a 12.2X in it the way it sits.

94irocz 12-14-2003, 12:29 AM Thanks man. Yeah I def know there is more in it, and its a good feeling. With some skinnies and a better launch it'll run a low 12. Not sure I'm gonna stick with the 3.42's though, might have to go back with a set of 3.73's cuz I think it pulled harder when it had the old gears in it. On top of the fact that peak power comes at 6200rpms and it gets shifted at 6400rpms, I don't think the 3.42's are hurting that bad but I don't think they are helping me out either.
Joe
Z97LT1 12-14-2003, 01:22 PM I wouldnt be suprised if going back to a bigger gear actually helped it out quite a bit, since the combination of 3.42's and a 26" tire are putting you way down on the tach on the big end.
