Also who are you Z28Buysse. I'm not sure if i know who you are. I've got the black 94Z with the plate that reads 1QUIKZ. Maybe you have seen me around.
Also does anyone local need any stock salad shooters, have 4, (2 brand new gsc tires and 2 with a little tread left). Also have 2 other stock rims for someone that needs some slicks.
Let me know, thanks Tony

I had put a program in the night before and it had some pretty aggresive timing in it and i should have retarded it back 4 degrees and didn't. With my other program i didn't have to do it at all and was fine. (should have checked it on the computer)Like i said though,i'm doing a few more other things and hopefully be running 11.7s on motor and 10's on the bottle. Were you there running also and what color is your car.

Hey Kirk, how's it going. Sounds like the Camaro car show was a blast. I'm gonna try and go next year. I went to the track friday and the car has some issues. First time at the track on this set up and my best was 12.28. The car is bogging at higher mph's through 3rd and 4th. Darren and i took it out the other night & was doing it through 2nd to 4th. We're thinking the MSD 6AL box is taking a ****. So i'm gonna try my buddies to see if that's the problem. Once i get that figured out then i'll head back to the track. Also was spinning pretty bad too. So overall it was alright but once i fix the problems i'll definetely be in the 11's. Then i'll focous on the spray!!

Instigator- I stopped by there yesterday and saw an orange TA sitting in the shop. I thought that was a pretty good looking car, and wondered whose it was. Then tonight I was catching up on the thread and saw that it was yours! That's pretty cool. If you havn't picked it up already, do me a favor and let them know that Josh with the red Z with black stripes referred you to them. I would really appereciate it. Phil should remember who I am. What all do you have done to your car? Mine is on jackstands as I speak ready for the tranny to go back in. I just installed a SPEC Stage III carbon clutch. Before the clutch and with a stock catback and 96 degree weather, it made 340hp on Dynotech's dyno with just a 306 cam and minor porting. How did your car turn out?

Instigator- sounds like you have quite the setup. The next thing on my needs list is a 12 bolt or 9 inch, along with an aluminum driveshaft. Then a Mufflex catback after that. Have you ever had your car at the track? I would probably guess in the mid 11's. Thanks in advance for letting them know that I referred you. I hope you will be pleased with their work. Talk at you later.

since ive been posting i guess i should say who i am for those of you that dont know me. my name is Darren, im 20 and from South Bend. as far as f-bodys go, i have an 89 IROC L98, used to have an 87 IROC i was building a drag car out of, and my main project right now is a 95 Formula. it hasnt been on the road since last fall, but hopefully will be back on the road for a month or so before winter. last year it ran 11.34@121 NA, 10.54@132 N20. this fall i will try for a 10.5 NA if i have time to sort things out. for next spring my plans are 9s NA, and high 8s on a mild nitrous shot (~300-400hp). ill still bring the car out to cruise nights, so maybe ill see some of you then http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif.

should have another stock rearend in his car this weekend, so maybe next friday. still going to have to take it easy till he gets a 9". that will especially be the case after he buys my street twin and puts it in.

if you are just wondering what his car is capable of, i think we should be able to get a VERY low 11, or maybe a 10.9 out of it once the street twin and 9" are in so it can be launched hard. traction will decide that one. if it doesnt get where we want it to, we can always swap the other blower pulley on http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Kirk, you'll find a car for around $8,000. There out there, but make sure to check it completely out. If you could come up with the extra cash though, Derek's TA is a very clean car and just had the front end converted to the 98 and up new style LS1 front end. It's gonna be neat when Dereks whoops a few LS1 cars and then when he pops his hood their's an LT1 motor in it. Anyway i'll keep my eyes open if i see something. There were a few deals on the for sale section for some LT1 powered cars trying to sell pretty cheap. I think 1 was an automatic though. Darren has that 89 Iroc with the L98, T-Tops for sale. went to the elkhart cruise in tonight. nothing but old cruisers. not many musclecars or drag cars. looks like ill be at OC tomarrow too.

we took Jon's car to US41 last night. nothing special, just ran it on plain old 17" street radials with some stock parts in place of some of his usual mods. still ran 116.8mph though, so not too bad. might be getting more boost soon

i dont know what the deal was with those Bud guys and thier friends. i could drive 5mph through the neighborhood and they would all yell at me to slow down and start throwing lawn chairs, beers, whatever they could grab at me. so i decided to just pull a big holeshot in front of them whenever i would see them all hanging out in the driveway http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif. sometimes they would even jump in cars and try to chase me, that was always fun http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif. especially at night with my kill switches for the brake, tail and liscense plate lights http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif

And what about Beiger St. good ole industrial road there...might be hard to get good traction cause of dirt and such. J/w

blackberry is FAR too narrow. have you seen how some of these guys we street race with drive? http://web.camaross.com/bb/eek.gif also there is sometimes a cop sitting in the break in the gaurdrail. it would be easy to check and see if there is a cop there or not, but the road is still just plain too narrow, and there is no place for all the watchers to park and watch from. the pavement certainly is nice though. back when i did all my burnouts there is was nothing but bumps, potholes, and slippery tar http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

beiger is way too rough if you are talking about the same place i am (between 12th street and the railroad tracks near 4th street). lots of cops frequent that area too

things are coming along pretty nicely over here. got the motor finished up and dropped it in the car last night, got the tranny in today. didnt work real hard so ill have to do all the engine bay assembly tomarrow or sometime this week. will have a driveshaft ordered tueday. think ill stay away from carbon fiber since i might have some interferece with the driveshaft loop that i will have to work out. dont want to risk ripping a CF shaft. exhaust will be done this weekend. then i just have some PITA chassis work to finish up and we should be ready to rock. PCM tuning should be pretty simple thats to a good starter file curtosey of Jason Short. whos ready for some 4th gen wheelies? http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

btw, on the red Ranger the motor is pretty much a total loss. with a little work and some new valves the heads can be saved. block is missing the whole #8 cylindar, rods are junk, crank is junk (even broke a couple huge counterweights off), oil pan is garbage, cam broke in 3 peices and shot the rear peice out the back of the motor. valvetrain is a loss. did a pretty good job on it http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

considering how much i HATE all other mustangs and all fords in general, you would be surprised how much i have always loved Fox stangs. always wanted one, now i got it :). ill get some pics tonight after i work on the fireturd. its Billy Nagy's old car if you are familiar with that. blue notchback w/ draglites and a darker blue cowl hood. short specs are: stock shortblock w/ ARP bolts and a girdle, big hydraulic roller cam (dont have specs yet), trick flow heads, 650 double pumper, longtubes, 2nd fuel system for nitrous, built manual valvebody C4, etc. REALLY needs some carb tuning, alot more gear(supposedly 3.08s right now, really feels like 2.73...), and a some more converter (stalls to 3000 on hard throttle right now)

i wont be at OC tomarrow. might go to US41 sat, but just to watch since the mustang is still on 7, and the firebird needs a lot more work before its ready for the track. after spending about 500 times the amount of time i was expecting to get the car all put together and setup, im about to fire the 396 up here in 10 minutes or so..... expecting a catastrophy. if the motor and tranny by some miracle ARE proplem free, then hopefully i can get the rest of the car finished up this weekend and be on the road by sunday night

Guys, I'm stuck here in Rensselaer, Indiana for a while... I need your help. My F-body needs some serious company. I am the only LEGIT, F-Body on the St. Joseph's Campus... And am looking for some NOrthwest INdiana to Lafayette Inidana members to go cruising with... My buddy is from Lafayette and is bringing his 94 Z up this weekend, I dabbled around on the MFBA to see if we could get some people to meet up at the Walmart in Rensselaer. It is Exit 215 from the north and either 203 or 205 from the south both via I-65. Let me know if your interested in meeting up this weekend I can set something up against some local competition!
you just need to email me...

well, for the 1st time since last Nov 4th the fireturd left the garage under its own power today. still battling an ignition misfire and real poor tuning that both are killing power im sure. despite that and the efforts of a madman torque arm set to its most agressive position, hal shocks all around, a wolfe swaybar and many other hardcore suspension parts it still completly blew off and smoked the 28x14.5 slicks for well over 200 feet. and that was without using the brakes or transbrake. so i would say it must be making some big power

the mustang on the other hand isnt looking too good :(

BergerSS435
10-18-2002, 06:08 PM
Hey guys! What's goin on? Well, just wondering what all of your plans were for this weekend.

chevyguy3
10-18-2002, 07:02 PM
not much going on. if it doesnt rain i think ill head up to Autozone tonight. definitly going to head out there tomarrow night. still no exhaust and i still cant figure out why my turn signals dont work, but i dont care. my brother has connections now and can get me out of tickets :D

no mayhem in morocco for me :(. im thinking i MIGHT try OC sunday though and hope not many people are there so i can play with the car a little and see where im at. still needs TONS of tuning and i need to fix my misfire. aired the slicks down to 16psi today and with no burnout and the front shocks as stiff as they go it still didnt want to do much of a burnout on the transbrake, so im confident it will hook hard at a prepped track wtih the shocks loosened up, the tires down ~12lbs and a nice burnout. i can still adjust the torque arm one position more aggressive than what its at right now.

i just logged the PCM while doing a burnout, and pulled 398 g/sec through the MAF. the most i ever pulled last year was 315 g/sec, so the motor is definitly already making more power than last year's. 10s NA will be a cake walk :)

ya know tony, it would be alot easier to buy one than build one ;). ill probably stop by with the car sometime this weekend if its nice out and the car stays in one peice.

mustang is still in somewhere ~300 peices. hopefully will work on that a little this weekend

sorry i made it so long, just wanted to fill everybody in on whats going on with the car since nobody has seen it in a year.

i still cant find Jon via phone, email or stopping by his house. he dead?

Sounds like your car is making some good horsepower. (sweet)
Did you happen to go to OC this weekend or go up town? I had to DJ a wedding this past Saturday and was going to head up town afterwards but i figured no one would be out. I just ended up going home. I worked on my 69 Camaro yesterday, and also tore down my future 396 block. I would by yours Darren but it's kinda out of my league at the moment. If you want swing by with the car tonight or mayble i'll swing bye. If you do swing by give me a call on my cell phone first. I also want to talk to you about this motor i'm going to build. By the way did you change opti's yet, and if so did it cure your problem? Also as far as John goes i haven't seen or heard from him. Where's he hiding at. Maybe he's back with his ex-girlfriend:confused:
Anyway talk to you later. I definetely want a ride.:)

chevyguy3

went to mckinley both nights, nobody there at all either night. pulled 424 gm/sec through the MAF later that night, but obviously the air isnt all being turned into power. ive got a granatelli MAF and no air filter on the car and my MAP readings are pretty low over 6000, so it looks like its time to blow a ton of $ on a monoblade :(.

went to OC, car was dead hooking on the transbrake, woiuldnt spin an inch. wasnt really powering out of the hole though. just did a 1.57 as my best 60'. the misfire is definitly killing me. tuning is way out in BFE too. MPHs wandered up and down from 110-117 with no changes. best was an 11.48 @ 114. got the front of the motor apart right now to do the opti but havent had any luck getting the ATI hub off yet.

mustang still in 300+ peices. going to try to sell it as soon as i get it back together

Tony, What's up man? How's the 69 coming along?

-Kirk

chevyguy3
10-21-2002, 08:57 PM
well, sledge was a bit of an exaggeration. i asked the guy who built the shortblock if i should hone the hub out before i put it on and he said he never does, just presses it on like that.... guess hes never had to take one back off? or hes got much better tools than me

LT1TONY
10-22-2002, 10:31 AM
Hey Darren it's good to see you have the car out and about and even better yet running it at the track. Sounds like the opti is screwing you up though. But still for the first time to the track and with issues your car is running pretty good. I'm sure once you get the bugs worked out it well definetely fly.
I see you guys found John, where has he been hiding at? He's not getting a Vette now?
Also what's going on Kirk? The 69 is coming along, not as fast as i would like it, but i'm working on it though.
Both the cars will be running next year:D
Did you find a car yet or still looking?

BergerSS435
10-22-2002, 04:30 PM
Heh, Nothing going on here, just studying my LT1 knowledge;) .....I think i'll ge serious around Feb, March cause F-body's are usually cheaper that time of year.....Don't worry, I'll probably be there with it for a baseline on the first T&T of the year!:D

Take care,
-Kirk
