Tonight me and my signifigant other went to visit her grandparents in the "assisted living" home. I was shocked to see that the parking lot at that place looked like your local Avis Rent-a-car. I swear I have never seen so many Malibu's in one place in my life.
I guess that answeres one of my age old questions...which is who buys Malibu's besides Avis....

I think Chevy is missing an opportunity here. They should sell a coupe version of the Malibu-look at all the coupe Grand Ams and Aleros that are sold. After all Chevy is GM's largest brand-you would think they if anybody would offer a coupe in this price range.

Your 100% right, Honda and Toyota do it, so why can't Chevy? They arn't going to steal Accord Coupe buyers away with the Malibu Maxx.

Was there some big mystery that most people who buy Malibu's don't really car about cars, and just want to get from point A to point B??!??

There's no secret to who buys Malibus, and there never was.
People who buy basic transportation, looking for the most equptment, the best overal dependability, and the best value & practicality for the price.
This includes young families, older people, & people who depend on their cars for work. This may drop some people's jaws, and send others into the fetal position repetitively mumbling "It isn't true, it isn't true" but this is the biggest share of the car buying public by far.
What are do the best selling cars tend to be? Taurus, Camary, Accord, Impala. Enthusiasts rarely make up over 10-15% of the buying public.
