My boyfriend and I are flying to Orlando Friday morning and were wondering if there's any car shows in the general area....maybe as far away as 2 hour drive. We're be there till Tuesday morning.

Thanks for any info!

I'm not aware of anything going on this weekend. Next weekend is the Central Florida FBody dinner on Friday and the Steak-N-Shake gathering on Saturday. Sunday will be the autocross 1.5 hours away in Palm Bay (Melbourne). Again that's all next weekend.

There is talk of a few of us heading out to the dragstrip this Friday, but that always depends on what the weather is like. I think it has rained everyday since the end of April so it's always a toss up. If it stops raining early enough for the track to dry out I'll probably be there. Most likely the same for others as well.

Thanks very much for the reply. I was hoping there would be a car show around since it was a holiday weekend http://web.camaross.com/bb/frown.gif. We would love to see some different cars to take pics of. Are there any regular cruise-ins?

I hope the rains hold out while were there!!! I think we might drive down to Jupiter's Inlet.....which by mapblast is about a 3 hour drive south.

Thanks again for the reply

There is a car show every Saturday night at Old Town in Kissimmee. Old Town is located on Hwy 192 about 4-5 miles East of I-4 over in the area near Disney entrance. This car show is mainly for Pre-1970's cars but is usually a good time and plenty of shops and restaurants around there. It is also free to the public and usually has about 100-250 cars and 1000+ people milling about. Starts about 5:30 PM. When heading East from I-4 on Hwy 192 look for a ferris wheel and high tower on your left - that is Old Town.

While you're in town, go down to International Drive and have lunch or dinner at Race Rock cafe. All sorts of race cars and motorcycles on display and hanging from the walls and ceiling. Just order lunch and walk around inside and check everything out. Race Rock is located about 2-3 miles North of the Convention Center and Hwy 528 (Beeline) on the left side of the road when heading North from the Beeline.

Later ... Larry S.

Thanks for the info MislMan! We're going to check that show out for sure!! Too bad we wont have our cars there but we love taking photos of cars and in fact is our side hobby/job. We're staying right off of International Drive and last year went inside Race Rock so we are kind of familiar with it. We didnt eat there since we were leaving for the airport. Hopefully this time we can grab a bite to eat!!

Thanks again!! http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

Just in case you can check this site while on travel ... there is also a "late model" car show out at Old Town on Friday nights. Cars of the 70's and up can participate as long as they are modified. I have never been to this show but have heard good things about it. If you need something to pass the time ... the ricers get together on International Drive at the Sonic drive-in on the north end of I-Drive towards the Belz Outlet Mall @ 9:00 PM on Friday night. Some are pretty cool but most are lame and very ricey ... OK if you're killing time. Just up the road on the right (headed North) is a theater if you want to catch a movie (Such as XXX with Vin Diesel - Triple X).

There is also a 50-60's car show on Kirkman Road about 4-5 miles North of I-Drive. Take I-drive North/East to Kirkman and turn left heading over I-4. Just drive over I-4 and keep heading North for a few miles, past Hooters on the left and over another cross-over. 2 miles up from there on the right is a small car show at Denny's. Also a Ruby Tuesday restaurant there. This is a small show with maybe 30-50 cars and a DJ. I haven't been there in a while but I think they still have it every Friday night.

I live right down here near Sea World but I am recovering from major back surgery and have to wear a body brace to get around or I'd meet up with y'all. I won't be able to get into my Trans Am before the end of the year most likely.
